You say this now, but wait until the ridiculous pre-trade threads start cropping up. Trust me, I know my people...

Come to think of it, I've never been to a Goose Island beer release.. It's usually distro. How are these releases handled usually?

its a clybourn release, this is kinda the first time they've done it (with their own bottles and own release). Their only other bottle release was part of their brewpub anniversary party. A couple years ago they sold king henry (and I'm told other bottles but I never saw em 50 people deep in the line) at the brewpub on black friday and that was a line-up and get a wristband type thing.

Someone should start a pool to wager who posts 'How Many Cthulhu for CCK?'

I got some cellared Pere Jacques from that release (back before that was a regular brewpub feature). Supposedly they had some cellared BCBS (and Vanilla), but only the first few people in line got any.

If it's anything like the KH release, expect lines around the block. Vav's Black Friday event last year had hundreds show up, so take that as you will...

This (and the 25th Anniversary) are definitely not the first time Clybourn has released beer.

20th Anniversary Cellar Collection comes to mind immediately.

That was also a Black Friday event where a good majority of the beer geeks in the city and surrounding suburbs had the day off. This release is on a Monday at the end of July. I'm sure there will be a line, but I can't see this thing even coming close to the length of lines at the Vav's or the King Henry release.

Does anybody know what time the release will be? I can probably schedule a meeting near the city for an hour or so, which will give me an hour to stop by. I definitely won't be able to just hang out all day.

They haven't announced it yet. The date also appears to be tentative. Here's to hoping there isn't a line around the block.

I happened to be there on Wednesday and grabbed some good Barrel Aged goodness. If that's being bottled, I'll stand in a line to bring some home.

Good to know, I hope they made enough of this that there's no worry about not getting bottles.

This is Chicago. This is a limited release of barrel-aged stout. There is no way there will be enough bottles.

I know there were other bottles there, I was being a shithead as I know a lot of you weren't the first ten that got all the rare stuff. That said, I got a few year old Pere Jacques too, and it was delicious.

in recent times.... I was still a young BA then, long before I hoarded, truck chased and mule'd.

Why doesn't Clybourn just do 1 per and take down names/ID?

Because breweries don't live or die by our quirky demands on how they sell us their product?

Not to be harsh, but there is little incentive for a brewery to go far out of their way for the subjective sake of fairness. Look at Upland: they are doing about as much as any other brewery to mIntain a sense of fairness and people are STILL complaining.

This is great. We'll all sit and b*tch on here about how people will buy a bunch just to trade, but the first time someone offers a suggestion on how to curb that, QUIT MAKING QUIRKY DEMANDS!

My argument is such: no matter how you cut it there won't be enough pie for everyone to have a taste. We all need to accept and move on.

I agree, but I think you can still optimize within that. 1 per will still sell out quickly, and it means more customers filtering through the brewpub, and more people happy that they left with a bottle. What's the downside? Maybe more labor to do 250 (or whatever) purchases instead of 1/2 or 1/3 of that. Maybe the ire of traders/hoarders, but they'll buy a bottle and be back the next time regardless.

I bet Goose announces on twitter when it goes on sale. That seems to be their new thing.
