They just started shipping Brau Bros Rye Wyne to MI - great $12 bomber that drinks well.

Depending on where you are, I think these are all great options (which I been able to get ahold of pretty easily):

Central waters bourbon barrel stout and Peruvian morning
    Clown shoes luchador en fuego
    Anderson valley bourbon stout
    Dragons milk

Am I seeing this right??? A boilermaker is being suggested as a BBA Stout sub.

Don't remember if this was ever confirmed, but is BCBS going to be year round at some point?

    1) you dont use a whole shot, just enough for flavor
    2) it's not a sub, just something to tide over the OP between releases.

Oddly enough Innis & Gunn, who barrel age everything, havent made an Imperial BBS.

FW sold Nectar... but yes, BX is an incredible beer.

Anderson Valley's Bourbon Barrel Stout is as close to a sessionable BBA stout as you'll ever find. It's not bourbon forward at all - only sat in Wild Turkey barrels for three months - but there's big chocolate, coffee, some oak, some vanilla, some bourbon, slight coconut. Really a delicious and flavorful beer that's available everywhere near me and only $6 or so.

I've wrestled with thIs myself and started to spike North Coast Old Rasputin, a readily available inexpensive but great stout, with a table spoon of bourbon, whatever's in my bar. You don't get the oak though but it's a nice addition surprisingly. Purists will cry foul but whatever, I like bourbon and stouts.

While I agree with the deliciousness of most of these, I think a bunch really aren't "everyday" for a couple reasons. Buying an expensive beer in a large-frmat bottle and drinking it every day seems like it would have a detrimental impact both on my wallet and on my ability to function. So, while Parabola and Labyrinth are great, Idon't think I woudl classify them as "everyday" beers. Now, to each there own. Maybe there are people out there with unlimited funds and ridiculous tolerances. If so, enjoy your everyday Parabola along with my jealousy.

I think Dragon's Milk by New Holand probably qualifies the best (though readoing this thread, I am hardly original in saying that). It is reasonably priced and comes in 12 oz. size (4-packs, I believe). Not sure other BBA Stouts fall into that category.

Per ounce BORIS is more expensive than BCBS.

I do not believe despite the name that this stout involves any time in bourbon or oak barrels.

Agreed, plus it's average at best.

Best readily available is Older Vis......but you have to live with that absurd price tag. It's a great beer, but an expensive beer.

No, he was right. Obviously depends on location, but the amount of BCBS shipped, and still available, in NY this year is equal in gallons to half of the Hudson River.

You are correct. My buddy and I went on their brewery tour a couple of years ago and he asked to see the barrels for Oak Barrel Stout. The head brewer looked at him like he had three heads and said they just throw in some oak chips.
