Anyone here anything about this brewery distributing to MI at some point in time? I'm from the East coast and have drank the product for a while. I think they have some impressive offerings.

BIG A IPA, Baltic Porter and Wheatwine are all solid Smutty offerings. Would be cool in my book.

Man, I missed the "?" in the title. I thought it was a statement not a question. I love both the taste and the label on the Wheatwine.

They are good, but they are no Shorts.

Funny thing is I thought they were already in Michigan. Mustve bought them in Illinois before.

Well, yeah, of course. Smuttynose focuses on accurate representations to style, with the occasional twist, while Shorts is, to put it bluntly, for any number of possible readings, Shorts. That being said, I can't really see an opening for Smuttynose in Michigan. As much as I love Finestkind IPA and Robust Porter, I find it hard to imagine them displacing the offerings from Bells and Founders. Smuttynose's real strength lies in their tasty and relatively cheap bombers, and given how little of those make it to Chicago, Michigan doesn't seem worth the effort.

I would love to see Smutty make its way to Michigan. Finest Kind would almost assuredly be my number two IPA behind Two Hearted. I would buy more Smutty than a handful of other breweries already distributing here.

    Good morning,
Forgive me for jumping on to this thread so late. (Is anyone still there?)
I thought you'd be interested to know that, although we haven't yet worked out all the details or the timing, we are in fact working to bring our beers into Michigan. We'll let you know more once our plan takes shape.
    Cheers,

There is currently no time frame for Smuttynose, so you might be waiting awhile.

I saw that. I'm patient, just knowing it is in the works is enough for me!

I can definitely see why some breweries take there time entering Michigan. The distributor laws are pretty strict and there are a ton of local breweries (and local pride).

Look at Oscar Blues. Amazing beer in my opinion, and I barely see them on tap anywhere.

The key, other than producing quality brews, is to have a engaged sales team hitting the streets everyday, monitoring/selling/promoting their brewery.

Good point, and I should not say this in case Mr. Summty and or Mr. Nose are following this thread, I will most likely buy 2-3 Barley Wines and Wheat Wines each year from Smuttynose. 1 to drink and one or two for the cellar and then stick with my MI beers for everything else. Same thing with White Oak when the Bruery comes to town
