Going on a beer trip with the wife the last week of August. Let me know if any of these places are busts and should be skipped or if anything stellar is missing.

    Day 1- Sun- Denver
    Coors
    Denver Brewing CO
    Strange Brewing
(Wits End and Prost have been suggested, not sure if I can fit them in)

    Day 2- Mon- Denver
    Breckenridge
    Great Divide
Wynkoop (Going to the Rockies game straight from here)

    Day 3- Tues- Longmount
    Oskar Blues
    Left Hand

Day 4 - Wed- Fort Collins
    Odell
    Equinox

    Day 5- Thur- Fort Collins
    New Belgium
    Funkwerks

    Day 6- Fri- Loveland
    Grimm Brothers
    Loveland Ale Works

    Day 7- Sat- Boulder/Denver
    Avery
    Boulder Beer Co
    Crooked Stave

    Then we drive home Sunday.

When you're in Boulder replace Boulder Beer with Fate which is right down the street from Avery or Mountain Sun. Boulder Beer is kinda week in comparison or Upslope is a sweet spot as well..

I'd also ditch Breckenridge and hit up one of the other places you mentioned.

Thanks for the advice! I am def going to Coors as I just want to see that size, not to drink the beer. I'll look into Renegade and Falling Rock. Why no Breckenridge or Denver brewing co, just not as good?

Falling Rock, at the very least, is a must.

    Correct.

Since you are keeping Coors on the list, there are 3, going to be 4 craft breweries in Golden all within 1.5 miles of Coors. Golden City Brewing, Cannonball Creek, Mountain Toad and Barrels and Bottles (B&B to open sometime in August). IMO they are all worth visiting if you are in Golden with Cannonball Creek being my favorite.

Edit: by the way, nice trip and good thinking to throw it out to the forum for advice

Going on a beer trip with the wife the last week of August. Let me know if any of these places are busts and should be skipped or if anything stellar is missing.

    Day 1- Sun- Denver
    Coors
    Denver Brewing CO
Strange Brewing - Strange is decent, but I would much rather hit Renegade, which is very close, Prost, and Wit's End
(Wits End and Prost have been suggested, not sure if I can fit them in)
Wit's End - can easily hit this on your way back from Coors
    Renegade - This as well
    Prost -

    Day 2- Mon- Denver
Breckenridge River North would be worth checking out, especially if you are going to a Rockies Game
    Great Divide
Wynkoop (Going to the Rockies game straight from here)
I Also like the suggestion of Falling Rock, Freshcraft is right down the street, as well, and has great food and beer.

    Day 3- Tues- Longmont
    Oskar Blues
    Left Hand

Day 4 - Wed- Fort Collins
Perhaps Choice City or Cafe Vino for lunch
    Odell
    Equinox

    Day 5- Thur- Fort Collins
Tap n Handle or Mayor of Old Town. Decent food and usually cool stuff rotating on tap.
    New Belgium
    Funkwerks
Coopersmiths puts out solid beer, as well. Good Food.

    Day 6- Fri- Loveland
DO NOT GO TO BIG BEAVER WHATEVER YOU DO!
    Grimm Brothers
    Loveland Ale Works

    Day 7- Sat- Boulder/Denver
    Avery
    Boulder Beer Co
    Crooked Stave
Mountain Sun for lunch and great beer. Awesome tap selection and flight options. I also enjoyed Fate and BRU on my last visit, both have great food, as well. The new Upslope location is great too and is very close to Avery, BRU, and Fate.

PM me if you have any questions. Have Fun!

Something to keep in mind about Breckenridge is that their 471 facility is off by itself - it isn't the one downtown near Great Divide and the 'Koop. Their Ballpark and Amato's locations are just restaurants. I honestly like the 471 brewery and think the world of their BBQ, but I'm not sure it would be on my short list of places to hit in Denver. Ditto with Denver Beer Co.
I'd replace those two with Prost and Wit's End.
Rather than Coors, which I would have recommended before they killed off their long tour, I'd venture into the eastern 'burbs for the Bull & Bush and/or Dry Dock instead. They're roughly the same distance, but in the opposite direction from Golden.

Oh yeah - hit up one of the Mountain Sun locations. Seriously. If for no other reason than to get an FYIPA and some fries.

I did not know the downtown was just a restaurant for Breckenridge, the 471 facility sounds like more fun, but out of the way. Glad I put this up, loving all the feedback!

I love their Fries. Was just at Vine street this past weekend and it reminded me why I love them so much.

I have mostly listed just breweries aside from Wynkoop brewpub, I didn't list beer bars on here, but Falling Rock looks to be on the lsit now, and Mayor of Oldtown was def on the list for Fort Collins. Keep the suggestions coming, thanks everyone!

If you make it to Renegade, 471 is only a few blocks away and you can walk between them easily. I don't think it's a "must visit" necessarily, but their BBQ is terrific and Well-Built ESB is a damn fine beer that isn't all that common.

In Loveland, check out Verboten instead of Loveland Ale Works. Verboten is about a half mile away from Grimm Brothers.

Is 471 still open? Thought they were closing and sold their equipment.

Yes to Mountain Sun (or Southern Sun) and Fate. BRU, on the other hand, has been one of my most disappointing experiences at a brewpub to date. Super slow service, overpriced mediocre food, very meh beer.
