This has been one of my top wants but I'm hearing that I need to get it now before it falls off too much. My question is why is it still trading like gold if it's falling off? Are people not wanting to trade it away for less than they "paid" to get it?

Taste rarely has anything to do with rarity and value. I've had KH a handful of times, fresh and one a couple months ago. I don't think it has fallen off, but the bold flavors have become a bit muted. Still delicious though.

Even after it has completely fallen off it will carry a high trade value. At least that's my prediction

What about when BCBW comes out in November? It's going to take at least a small hit as people can still sort of get their GI fix, although they won't have been aged in PvW23 barrels.

I don't think that KH is worth the asking price anymore, I have opened a couple bottles recently and I think it has fallen off hard. Just one guys opinion anyway, good luck OP, put up an ISO and see what happens.

I was thinking of putting up an ISO with a rarer DOS growler for trade. I don't worry that it gets done, just not sure that I want to pay that price. :astonished:

Personally, I think this could actually increase the value of King Henry (I do not have a King Henry to trade), as many more people will get a chance to try a GI BB Barleywine and will most likely enjoy it, making the desire to try the one aged in the "special" barrels even stronger. If somehow GI BBBW is a flop, that could hurt the KH trade value.

Trade value has almost nothing to do with taste. That said, the high KH reviews still seem to be coming in at a steady clip, so while it may have fallen off, it's obviously still delicious. People who didn't have it fresh won't know what they were missing. We also get into the rarely discussed territory of "storage conditions matter". A well kept KH might be drinking phenomenally while a closet beer might be falling off hard.

The last one I had was tasting phenominal, and I wish I wouldn't have to give up my first born to get one of my own or I would do it in a heartbeat!

$20 is a high price to pay for a huge want?

I wouldn't be totally shocked if you got that done, but wouldn't count on it as a done deal either.

I've never had it fresh, but I did have it about 3 months ago. It was a big want of mine that I never got around to trading for, but it showed up at an awesome bottle share thanks to an awesome BA (thanks again, Fitz!!). I absolutely loved it and it completely fulfilled the expectations I had

King Henry in my opinion is still drinking awesome. I had one over a year ago and I also opened one on the fourth of July. I do have one more that I am saving for a special occation. I however did not trade for mine, so I did not give up an arm and a leg for it.

That's only because most people with it want to win the trade. If I had one I'd send it to you for some CCB beers. I may be one of the only people that don't care much about rareity and would rather someone get to try their white whale then to get a boat load of beer. I certainly will send a boat load to get a bottle I really want to try, but I try to do that with every trade anyways. I mean I just traded a CBS for a Huna and melang 3 even tho I already have both just because a trade partner had never had CBS and it was his white whale.
