So I have to opportunity to purchase a complete set of Armand4 beers with the cool wood box and signed by Armand for $400. I was in Europe recently and these beers were selling for 40 euros (about $55), plus I would have had to ship them back. I see the premium as about $150. ARE THESE BEERS THAT GOOD? Will they age well? I heard that Armand had four batches of geuze and in order to sell them for a high price threw together this 4 seasons thing. Marketing ploy or really special/world class beer? Thanks for everyones insight...

First off, these beers are really quite good. Secondly, some of them are getting harder to find. The chance to try them all together, or age them together to try them LATER is worth somewhat of a premium. Don't factor in the swag unless you plan to try and flip them later. Talk to some buddies, gather the cash and go for it. If you are a fan of Belgian sours, I doubt you all will be disappointed. If your palate isn't quite there yet, you should probably start somewhere easier and cheaper. Good luck either way.

To me that's crazy. If you're even considering it, however, it's probably worth it to you.

I always find that the experience and the memories far outweigh the stress of money spending. Just do it and savor it.

I don't see how a $400.00 beer could live up to expectation. Has the beer community been parkerized ( as in Robert Parker and wine)?

if $400 is pocket change to you, then go for it. the three seasons I had were all very very good.

I paid 60 euro for the zomer. The winter one is very hard to get. My friend with a very large collection has the other 3 and can't find the 4th. So buying the set is worth it if you have the money. It's an investment to have a tasting in 10 years.

Seems like you could get a lot of almost as good beer for the same price. I wouldn't pull the trigger, but $400 is a good amount of money to me.

I can't fully divulge how the Armand series started out, but they are truly once brewed recipes, not just his other beers repackaged. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat, Lente was crazy good and Zomer was also tasty but not quite as great.

zomer and lente were hands down the two best sours I've ever had, which we had at a tasting. So good, one of my tasting partners and I just agreed to get the other two, at significant cost, to split with each other in the future.

If you are even thinking about it, at least have a friend to a.) split the cost and b.) share them with.

<humblebrag>I have drank 5 Lente by myself and 2 more via tasting. I only have 1 left.

If i could realistically spend 400 dollars, I would in a nanosecond for the set.

The beers are great but that money could be a lot more than 4 beers...
