Definitely agree with this. I was surprised to see how relatively cheap their beers on tap were considering all the stick they get on here for being over-priced.

Some strong opinions here. Brewdog was set up in the UK to deliver American craft beer on keg and in bottles for the UK market. They copied the brash, bold marketing of people like Rogue and Stone. I think they have created a very successful brand which was deliberately trying to appeal to a younger audience and shake off the 'old man with beard and sandals' cask ale scene in the UK.

They have gone very mainstream, and as a result quality has gone down as they mass produce. However, they still have some really good beers and their bars have a great selection, although are pricey, even in the UK.

However, it is telling that as someone living in London, I rarely seek out Brewdog beers as there is much better out there. The Kernel, Partizan, Thornbridge, etc.

Out of curiosity, what kind of prices are we talking for BD beers in the US?

Came on to say this. I always thought they were goodish, but overpriced. When I went to their pub in Camden I had a real blast and loved every beer I tried. I even sampled an ounce of Tactical Nuclear Penguin that they had for 6 lbs and thought it was very interesting. I was particularly impressed with how better their beer tasted fresh. Also thought their hops tasted like US beers rather than all the UK stuff I was having while in Europe. Not that the UK stuff is bad though.

Yeah BrewDog are really inconsistent, I had a bottle of Hardcore at a bar (not a brewdog bar) and it was going to expire in about 2 months, so I thought ok the bar probably shouldn't have served it or knocked a few quid off. I thought it would still have some hop character but it was a cloyingly sweet malty mess. Also dead pony club is pretty terrible now, was ok when it came out. I feel like when brewdog launch a beer they brew it really well, but once they get a clientele for their products they just get lazy and don't brew very good beer, like dead pony club, punk, 5am saint. All three of those beers used to be great and they were readily available at UK supermarkets and still are, but they're just awful now

Nope. The UK is making lots of great beer thanks very much. So much great development over the past few years. Pull your finger out and get with the program.

FWIW, BrewDog beer is all over the place. Some terrible (where do I begin?), some mediocre (Hardcore), some inconsistent (Punk IPA) and others, such as Alice Porter and Dead Pony Club surprisingly good ,dependable and shockingly ignored by people who should know better.

Beer imported travelling 3 to 5,000 miles in 'Expensive' and 'quality' SHOCKER !!!

    No shit !

Do you think I waste my time buying overpriced stale US IPA's in England ?

You'd think reading this post that some folks believe its a personal attack on US beer geeks by Brewdog making you all purchase their expensive and out of date beer - how dare they YOU MUST BUY !!!

When a brewery has produced some 181 different beers in 4 or 5 years there are going to be hit and miss offerings - FACT. They don't play safe like a lot of traditional UK brewers who churn out 4 or 5 'samey' bitters - hoorah for experimentation.

But you know what - here's a great idea ... what if there was a website where you could look up beer reviews to help guide you in your purchases ! Personal tastes apply - but what a great idea hey ?

    Again personal tastes apply.

You prefer cask beers, 3.5% milds, 4% bitters etc.

Brew Dog don't do cask beers anymore so they become an immediate hate figure for the majority of older generation CAMRA members. The ENEMY !

I asked you once before what you were comparing Hardcore IPA to when you said it didn't punch it's weight and I recall that you couldn't offer the name of another DIPA that you had actually had !

You are always going to come on and knock BD down as your niche is low ABV cask beer !

Whilst all opinions are welcome and some of the US folks may see you as the voice of UK beer, being one of the most regular UK posters on here, in my eyes someone who has only had a handful of DIPA's to compare too isn't the person to take note of in a critique of Hardcore / Brewdog yay or nay arguement.

Didn't you guys invent the expression "coal to Newcastle"? Sending us IPA is the equivalent, so who is to blame for doing it? Don't blame us for being honest about what we get.

And since you guys invented IPA and are so smart about beer, why in the world would you import IPA from here?

I often wonder how many of those 181, or however many, actually started as a repeat brew only to turn out nothing like it was supposed to be and so was given a different moniker.

IPA's to the US is the new coals to Newcastle  see also Mikkeller !

No blame attached - no one forces anyone to buy anything ... Honest sure, but I could have told you that, more a case of waking up and smelling the coffee or the expensive faded hops when you'll get far better local !
