False, there would never had to have been communication with family members if Dipshit would have either fulfilled his obligation, or kept open the lines of communication. Me calling your Mommy is the least of your concerns if you rip me off.

The dude is a jackass but his family most likely has nothing to do with him ripping you off and they don't deserve being bothered with this nonsense. What is the biggest concern if someone rips you off?...

Besides being out the $160, shipping, time and effort?

He calls the house looking for the shitbag that ripped him off and happens to talk to the kid's mom. Something that wouldn't happen if the kid didn't pull this. It isn't much of a bother, certainly not on the level of what Andrew went through to get him the beer.

I haven't been ripped off yet. But I imagine what Andrew did would pale in comparison to the lengths I'm willing to go.

I think it depends on your definition of harassing. Is calling someone's house, who happens to still live with their parents, at 2 am in the morning because they won't pick up the phone any bother time of day harassment? I dont think so. Is telling someone's mom (who picks up the phone because they still live with mom) that their son stole from you and is now trying to avoid you harassment? I dont think so. Is contacting any member of the family and asking for better contact info because that person stole from you and is now avoiding you considered harassment? I don't think so. Is contacting that persons place of employment and asking for him/her because they won't return your phone calls considered harassment? I don't think so.

I would say you think wrong then. That sounds like borderline stalking and harassment to me.

That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. IMO, that sounds like trying to get a hold of someone who stole from me.

In a harassing stalking type manner  at least leave the work place out of it; they don't need to deal with this kind of silly shit.

It's a fine line between harassing and acceptable.

I think if somebody still lives with his parents, then to some degree he is still under his parents rule, so I don't see the problem with a few phone calls to the house. Now, if you're talking about harassing the family of a grown man who has supported himself for over a decade, then I think you're over the line. Now you're just roping innocent people into something they have nothing to do with.

With contacting their place of employment, again, I think it's just a matter of being tactful. It's fine to call and ask for the person, but getting the company involved is over the line.

What if they're in their mid to late 20's?

What difference could their age possibly make?

The fact is that this person is a thief. Trying to contact them in any way possible - social media, family, friends, work, what have you - in a tactful, non-threatening way is perfectly acceptable. I can't even conceive of a way in which trying to track down a thief, if you're not being a dick to said people, could be construed as "stalking or harassment".

It's trying to hold a thief accountable. Nothing more, nothing less.

As you know I wasn't asking you that but I meant what if their older in regards to getting their parents involved. If they're 28 and living at home they aren't really under the control of their parents. And its still a dick move involving and bothering people who have nothing to do with the situation.

If someone is 28 and living at home, their parents deserve to be harassed. Give me a F'ing break. This asshat stole from someone, that someone is attempting to recoup their losses any way they can. Apparently it has worked because now said asshat claims to be sending money Wednesday. I say good job Andrew, I'm sorry it took this long for this thieving piece of shit to get you your money back.

I'm just generalizing here. If I knew they lived at home I wouldn't see a problem contacting their parents regardless of age. I was merely trying to carve out the case where the kids are old enough to be taking care of the parents...

This is a bit of a strawman anyway, because the universe of 28 year olds who live with their parents and screw people out of beer is likely pretty small.

I think this thread has run its course (and turned to shit). The only updates to it from here should be a tracking number and a receipt of sent money if ygolordned chooses to post them. I do hope that this thread stays up and doesn't get deleted. It has brought up good discussions/debates and called attention to unacceptable behavior.

From what I can tell, this thread hasn't broken any rules of the site and, therefore, should be left up. Let's remain civil about this so this thread stays visible for anyone searching the name Matty_Monster. Often times these threads are derailed and nuked which increases the likelihood of a similar situation happening again.

Plus, he's already added to my avatar. That should have been the end of it

Thread is being derailed by future bad traders who may still live in their parents basements and do not want mommy and daddy bothered when they steal beer.

After all, mommy and daddy are providing them free room and board, food, cigs, cable, interwebs, clothes, and healthcare.

Mommy and daddy should not have to deal with OTHER people their kid is ripping off :astonished:, I mean they just might get upset and do the right thing and show them the fucking door. Wouldn't want that.

I definitely agree this has run its course and hopefully money is sent. I hope this helps new traders and doesn't discourage too many people. There's a good chance you'll meet some great people on here if you go down the road of trading. Unfortunately, this highlights what we all know... There are assholes out there. We just have to do our best to avoid them.

I can agree with this other than calling the house at 2am. That is over the line in my opinion (depending on how many times they actually were tried during normal hours of course)
