I guarantee that troll has absolutely no idea what Rarer DOS even is. That's pretty much right on the button.

If it was right on the button we wouldnt be talking about it would we? OP did that get done? Imo maybe nooner and rarer would get it done. And i had rarer dos last batch and I have one from this batch on its way. Its not kh rare, but to the right person it might happen. And no I don't have any kh's left.

For one, trades don't get done for all sorts of reasons, and often take time.

For two, there were about 12,000 bottles of King Henry. Rarer DOS has seen, what, maybe 1200 growlers?

For three, KH is a 3-to-1 wants-to-gots. Rarer DOS is over 10-to-1.

I mean, the only reason this isn't about 3 bottles of KH for one Rarer DOS is that KH is one of the first beers every noob hears about, while many don't know what Rarer is. Thus there is a bit of an artificial iron grip on KH, and has been for a while now.

With all the hype around this beer for so long, I think it's safe to say that by now a bottle of King Henry is worth at least 2 King Henrys.

Note: I didn't make this joke up. I saw it somewhere on here awhile back.

Why do you think every Noob hears about KH first? And no, I don't have a single bottle. I assume it is because one of their friends has told them how good it is/was.

Had the chance to try some last night. If you have the opportunity to trade for it, you might as well do it soon because the asking price on this beer is only going to go up as the # of bottles steadily decreases.

Or, in a bizarre twist of events, people could actually realize that they are; (wait for it)

    DIFFERENT BEERS?!?!

King Henry was, and is, awesome. BCBW could be awesome/great/good/average/bad. It's probably going to be pretty awesome given their track record, but alas, that doesn't make it "King Henry" it makes it another BA Barleywine from GI, who has an awesome track record of BA brews produced on a pretty large scale.

Perhaps Sierra Nevada will release a BA Barleywine, and people will drain pour their King Henry's, seems about as likely I guess, since neither beers really have anything to do with the other, otherwise Dark Lord, Sexual Chocolate, and Hunaphu, would probably be driving down the trade value of their non-barrel-aged counterparts.

Also, ISO: KH + BCBW FT: awesome stuff that's so awesome, you'll never get to enjoy it.

At this point you're better of getting BA Naked Evil if you want a good BA barleywine. Noobs don't hear about KH because it's so good, they hear about it because it was a black swan.

There are many beers out there that are as good as King Henry. There are lots of other reasons besides quality - it was widely distributed, it came out right as the 2012 beer trading explosion was starting, it came out of nowhere, and it has a great story behind it. (aged in the legendary Rare barrels) Plus everybody knows Goose Island due to BCBS, so that helped a lot with word of mouth.

King Henry is basically the noob whale at this point.

I am seeking it out because I dont have the ammo for Rare and I LOVE PVW and I love barley wines. Guess its one of my personal whales and I wanted to get it before you couldnt taste the PVW in it.

These are second-use barrels, you couldn't taste the PvW in them at any point. Hell, it's extremely unlikely that you can taste the brand of bourbon used in any BBA beer.

I know theyre second use barrels but if you dont taste it, then whyd they use them? Because they were already on hand? To date, my favorite bw is BA Bigfoot because of the whiskey.

Because why not? You have to do something with the used barrels. Also, I never said it didn't make a difference which brand you use, it very well may. But you'll never, ever be able to say "this is bourbon X". Get some Eclipses, try them blind, and see if you can guess which is which. My bet is that you'll get very few, if any.

And I have absolutely no idea what you mean by BA Bigfoot being your best because of the whiskey. Of course you can taste that it was barrel-aged, it's that you'll never be able to taste it and say "oh this was aged in Heaven Hill" (or whatever, I have no idea what Sierra used).

Im not saying I could drink a beer and pick out the brand of whatever type of barrel it was in.

I guess I was just making a statement that if something I love can come from SN and be readily available then why chase after KH and trade half my cellar away?
