That decal would be the coolest thing to have on my patio doors.

So be honest, if a store was selling Heady Topper without this decal would you still buy it?

Depends how much heady I already have in my fridge

Ill be honest a few days before my last bday heady showed up at my local spot and I jumped on it getting 3 cans! (All different occasions as it was 1 limit and I had my roommate grab me one for my bday gift) I then proceeded to raid vt a few times over the last 8 months since.

I mean, I love Heady but I'm not going to pay an insane amount for it. I've actually never bought it anywhere but the cannery. I went the entire winter without it, I didn't die, Lagunita's Sucks kept me company.

If I went to a store that wasn't authorized and the markup was a reasonable amount, I'd buy it.

I was trying to do big things for my bday I had just aquired Pliny for the first time and I couldn't not do a Pliny vs heady vs kiwi rising vs blind pig vs lunch. In fact I think I went in the exact opposite order.

It was 5 bucks a can for me. But at that point I hadn't had more than 10 cans of it in my life so probably would have went 10 a can at a store and 15 at a bar. I'm just being honest I wouldn't do that now seeing I've had probably 100 times since then.

Great idea. Power to them to do something in this case.

That said, I paid $10 for a can when in a bar in NYC recently. Pretty sure it was black market Heady, and I get Heady all the time fresh from the source. So, why did I buy it for $10 a can? Cause it's delicious. And it was even in that bar in NYC. Took a nice picture of it next to an empty Cantillon and Mikkeller bottle from earlier the same night, good times.

Do they really think that all the people buying Heady Topper in stores that aren't supposed to have it don't realize it's "unauthorized"?

Surely they aren't that disconnected from the market to understand what's going on?

I just counted--there are 137 authorized retailers (including restaurants/bars). There's a surprising number of gas stations that will be sporting the new stickers.

Does this truly happen on this scale? I've only ever personally seen it black marketed in one place. And given the demand, even if we assume the stickers end the black market, I would guess they will still sell out every week. If this helps ensure the quality control of their product, I see nothing foolish about this at all.
