In South Florida SN is charging more for the 4 pack of Torpedo 16oz cans (64ozs) than they are for a 6 pack of 12oz bottles (72ozs). Anyone else finding this? Is aluminum that much more than glass, or are we paying for their new canning equipment? I find this strange.

Are you buying Torpedo directly from Sierra Nevada, or is it going through a local SN wholesaler and then to a retailer? SN doesn't control retail pricing and, according to Sierranevadabill "...We've set the cost per ounce just about the same for 4-pack cans or 6-pack bottles."

Craft beer utilizes marketing gimmicks, too. Just experienced this same thing at my local bottle shop last night.

Most places I've seen it around here are a dollar less for the 4pk cans. So yeah, the same per ounce.

I was in a store that I don't frequent much last week and I happened to notice that a 4pk. of cans was a wopping $11.99 and their 6pk bottles was the usual $8.99:astonished:
I just assumed it was an absurd mark up or just a pricing error.

    Cheers All........

Around here it's $7.99 a 4-pack, which is the same as a 6-pack. They're using the same pricing strategy with the New Belgium 4-packs of Shift and Ranger as well.

Just haggle with the guy at the liquor store. If you can negotiate half as well as you do on your TV show, Pawn Stars, I'm sure you could get a deal done.

I've found the 4pk at $8 and the 6pk at $9 which makes them the same cost per oz. I've seen variation though where the 4pk is more but mainly they are the same price per oz that i have found

Here in SE Virginia, for both Sierra Nevada and New Belgium, the price of the 4 pack tall boy cans is $.50 - $1 more than the 6 pack 12 oz bottles.

In other words, they're almost the exact same price (ounce to ounce).

You know, this may have been an extremely smart move by SN. People buying more cans with more beer in them means more ounces sold. More ounces sold = more money made. And I feel like I've heard that cans cost less to ship, so if that's the case, then they may be making more on those in the long run. Well played, SN. Well played.

    11.99 for a 12pk... yes a 12 pk. Gotta Love Market Basket.

4pk Cans were about 6.99 at other stores around here (NH).
