Did I miss something? 360 bottle release from GI, ~10% Elijah Craig BA oatmeal stout = BA explosion?

Did they brew this with unicorn tears? Rainbows? I know, I know...wale of the week, broseph...but in all seriousness, what the heck is going on?

Edit: Apparantly Chicago didn't care either - went on sale at 11, and there were bottles left once the line went through. 3-4 hours to go through 360 bottles? Instawale? Does not compute.

Thank you for clarifying  Obviously I need to trade for multiple bottles of this ambrosia.

This beer has a lot more in common with 50/50 Eclipse than it does with BCBS, so take that for what it is. I could have snuck over during my lunch break for a bottle, but after having it on tap a few weeks ago I decided it really wasn't worth the bother.

Hadn't heard about and don't really care about it. But if you go for it Jason, I'll certainly help you taste it.

    And thanks for the lulz.

I think the Monday work day release slows things down.

I don't understand the hate on the trade forums towards those FT-ing it. It's no worse than Mexi Cake, Rare dos, or whatever has come up over the last few months. Everyone's looking for the same stuff- KBBS, MD, BVDL, Rare, etc.

Its 360 bottles, $20, brewery only, limit 1, from a brewery that has a very long pedigree of producing great BA stouts. I don't have a bottle so I'm not trying to hype it, just don't understand why everyone trying to trade it is getting torn to shreds. Aren't those the type of arguments people always use to defend why their beer is worth so much?

So, this is really more of a midwest brewery turd?

I'm just playing around a little, but seeing FT: Cthulhu ISO: BVDL/Mex Cake Set/etc made me laugh. I mean, yeah, it's a cool limited local release, but for me personally, seeing someone put up an offer like that is pretty much a direct ticket to my personal "do not trade" list. In the grand scheme of things that doesn't matter at all, it's just funny to see 24-48 hours of hysteria over something that fades away quickly.

I get what you are saying, and it seems a lot of these people are trying to capitalize on the release and "win" trades because they finally got their hands on the new hottness. I just find it funny that when a beer actually has all of the sort of "metrics" or whatever that determine trade value going for it, the FT/ISOs get torn to shreds.

What is reasonable to trade for a Cthulhu? Seems like everything people are asking for one is getting shit on.

Hell if I know, but if I had to take a guess, a brewery only release with a fairly low bottle count that's likely to be pretty good and around $20 seems fair.

I'm having a hard time understanding why this release is the one you choose to make your stand on. I mean, multi-thousand bottle distributed releases from goose island trade like mad, and somehow you're surprised / upset that when they do a 360 bottle, limit 1, brewery only release that it's crazy? How did you possible expect anything else to happen?
