Rare DOS?

    Most likely, but so do most of the beers that I trade for, and haven't experienced anything like this before.

    This definitely doesn't seem like the norm... everyone has bee posting rave reviews of their growlers. Seems like a mishandling issue, or maybe the bottom of the keg? but even that shouldn't cause tartness.

    Yeah that's all I could think of. Was it from the new batch? Did it come from someone in FL? If I had another I would send it to just so you could taste the correct awesomeness!

    Yeah, someone from FL I trust, so I don't think he sent me a different beer in a Rare Dos growler. It was from the latest batch. I know other people who also got it from him and they were just fine.

    It was probably a bad growler glass than a bad batch of beer. Improper cleaning beforehand, etc.

    I drank a growler of RareDOS on Friday night and it was certainly off. A slight hint of 09 Abyss was in there. I'm not sure if some growlers weren't cleaned properly or what but I received my growler from a great trader. He shipped it on Tuesday, I drank it the day it came in on Friday, and was disappointed. RareR and Nooner from earlier this year were dynamite, this one had something not quite right with it.

    This very disturbing news and Peg's Cantina and Cycle Brewing are going to find a way to make things right with anybody having a bad experience with our Rare DOS. The beer is expensive to make and we appreciate our customers who paid what we feel is a justified premium for the beer.
    We stand behind our position that these are growlers, consume fresh, do not age but that doesn't mean we are idiots who think people are taking it home and drinking it within a few days. The last batch of RareR DOS lasted, in our opinion, 7 months before showing serious signs of age and our hope was similar results for this beer.

    We kept a few cases back and sampling from those we have been unable to find a single flawed bottle, these were filled one at a time so there would not be expected consistency in any infection, a blessing and a curse.
    Please contact Peg's or Cycle through our website or with a message on Facebook. Locals who have had a bad bottle, we are happy to refund your money, out of state traders are a bigger challenge for us but we are none the less committed to the beer and it's quality and we want to make sure your experience with our beers is a positive one.

    Class acts over there at Pegs. I've got a nooner and a rare dos in my fridge. So tack on 7 months and i may be able to hold off on it til Huna day bottle share :slight_smile:

    Finally, a brewery that treats is customers with respect. Kudos. Wish more breweries would view us as beer loves and supporters versus vultures.
