And an update for everyone as well, she has an appointment Thursday with the surgeon to see what the next steps are and how soon she can have a procedure done. She's at about maybe 60% of her normal self which is a huge improvement from 2 weeks ago when I saw her and she couldn't hold her bowels. Hopefully a surgery can come sooner rather than later with this California heat being hindering any progress she's otherwise making to get as close to comfortable as she can

I definitely will keep everyone updated. I traded for and/or hunted most of these bottles down for something special and while I won't get to drink them, this is a much better experience to send them to generous people. My buddy doesn't really like craft beer anyways. So the Bud Light I drink with him after the surgery will be much better than the Madness 2 I'm sending out. As long as the dog is better. That's all that matters.

Update on shipping: I'm shipping 2 of the boxes today, Libbey's box should be out tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

As for the dog, I just got an update that she was having a lot of trouble breathing before her appt with the surgeon, they stabilized her but it looks like their scheduling the surgery today to ensure her survival while they look for an underlying cause but the initial outlook if she has surgery looks good given no underlying cause. I can't explain how much the money donated has helped for this and how much debt I am in to everyone as this has helped pay for a healthy portion of the surgery down payment. I'll keep everyone updated as I get news in the following days. I am leaving work to get some more money to give for this surgery and to spend some time with my dogs for a bit before I pick up my buddy to have a few beers/whiskey to try taking his mind off of things at least today.

So this should be a positive update, the surgery was a success and she's breathing much better. Still is having trouble walking but they ran tests and it looks like she has a disease called Myasthenia Gravis. The good news is that it looks to be treatable with steroids and medicine every day for the rest of her life and she should have a good outlook in terms of quality of life. She has a new vet, the surgeon who performed the procedure on her, and it looks like she may come home Monday/Tuesday with a slight chance of tomorrow. I met the vet and have decided that my 2 girls will go to him as well now. And as luck would have it, on the hospitals web site it says he is an avid home brewer, so I assume hes also a craft beer geek. I'm gonna look in my cellar and send him a bottle or 2 as a thank you for the surgery when the dog gets picked up.

Again, I am indebted to every single one of you guys and I thank you for everything.

And a final update. It's confirmed that its Myasthenia Gravis and she was released yesterday with meds for the rest of her life. Minus bald spots on her legs from the IV's and a shaved neck and back of her head she's acting like nothing happened to her at all and walking with no problems at all. Gonna BBQ tonight at his house and while its not a typical choice I'm looking forward to drinking a Kona variety pack with the dog bugging everyone for attention like nothing changed at all

A final update: Maybe out of embarrassment or denial, I said it was a friends dog. It was my dog. I apologize to everyone for that. I didn't have all of the ~$9000 for her surgery and care, I was about $2000 short, so I ran the LIF but didn't want to say it was for my dog, I don't know why. I sent out boxes, she got diagnosed, we did surgery and things were looking up. Then she got diagnosed Monday with aspiration pneumonia, this morning approximately 2 hours ago we had to take her into the ER because she started breathing labored, X-rays were done to confirm and the heart breaking decision was made to let her go. We did everything we could and still failed her. I apologize for not being 100% honest and saying it was my Riley who needed help, I was embarrassed that I needed money because insurance wouldn't cover the surgery. Because I lied, I am offering to give back everyone's donation and reimburse anyone who donated a box. I'm sorry for lying about who the money was for, but was 100% sincere in the purpose behind the LIF.

I'm so sorry, Johnny. My condolences.

And I wouldn't expect anyone to be asking for donations back. The cause was the same.

Oh man. I'm so sorry Johnny. Don't even think of reimbursing a cent. Wouldn't have changed a thing in donating to try and help her out.

While I'm sure you're truly heartbroken, just know that you gave your dog the greatest life she could have ever known and she loved you every minute of her life. I'm sure that when she closed her eyes one final time the last thing she was thinking of was you.

    My condolences...Rob

While I would never ask for my money back, please remember that honesty is the best policy. I'm sure there will be people doubting your story and/or intentions. Either way, I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Man that f'in sucks, sorry to hear to hear about your dog. Words aren't enough to explain my sympathy for you. Losing pets is one of the hardest things I've ever dealt with. Thanks for being honest and again, sorry to hear this. My condolences.

Johnny, No need to be embarrassed or upset. Anyone that donated did because they love animals and wanted to help. Your dog and friends dog the barristers dog, it Doesn't matter, It was a pet, a member of someones family. The BA community is amazing!! Keep your chin up and have a beer for her.
