I'd like some opinions on what people feel the value is on these trading for each other. 1:1? Someone have to add? If so, which side?

If its the Apple Brandy BOTTLES of BA Huna you're talking about the BCBS Vanilla party would have to add a TON (as in significantly more than double the offer). If its the growler, I feel like you might be able to get a 1:1.

Agree with Jim. It took me a rare and BVDL to get my 750 of the apple brandy huna so if that is what you are after I dont think you will find one with a BCBVS. Growler maybe?? Now over the weekend I know that BCBVS went 1:1 with the more recent Cal Brandy Huna.

add heaps to get a bottle of Laird Apple. Something in the realm of 84 bottles.
Add a King Henry and all set.

I believe that there was a previous small release of the Lairds AB in bottles.

Not considering bottle counts, $, etc...but having had both, I would not give up AB Huna for vanilla. One of the best beers I've had.

^^^ This...but to answer the OP's question, I personally don't think you could land an Apple Brandy growler with a Vanilla but that's just my opinion...I doubt that there are many left out there...had 2 growlers and could not resist myself from drinking them....So fucking good...

    Cheers!

I wonder how they're holding up? It's been a little over a year now...

I opened one on Christmas morning, and it was still pretty fantastic. Maybe didn't pop like when I'd had it pretty fresh, but still damn good. Haven't talked to anybody who's opened one recently, so I also wonder how it's holding up.

Someone in my tasting group opened a growler back in late June and another guy opened up a Cali Brandy Huna bottle. We thought the AB Huna was hands down the best beer of the night. Those there who had had it before couldn't believe how well it had held up.

Are those AB Hunah 750s still any good? The release must've been over two years ago.

Why would a Brandy Huna not hold up over 2 years but something like a Rare would. Brandy instead of bourbon make a difference?

They are referring to the Growlers of AB Huna. There were only 84 Capped bottles of AB Huna ever released to the public. There are probably on a handful left.

That's what I thought too, growlers. But then he specifically said 750 BA Huna.

I did specifically mean 750. Interpret a beer "holding up" for 2+ years however you want. Flavors mellow and fade. Oxidation creeps in. If I'm trading hard for one bottle of beer like AB Hunah I want the full impact of flavor and not take a chance on an old bottle with the possibility of questionable storage or wondering if it had been shipped across the country 10 times.

Different base beers are going to age in different ways, even in the same style. Bourbon County's base has been shown to go the distance. Plus Rare is just a bourbon barrel stout, whereas Hunah has all these crazy adjuncts in it. I think Hunah ages terribly, and I'm not sure why AB barrels would make a difference. If you want something that tastes like old stout with some Apple Brandy just leave an uncapped old rasputin out overnight then pour a shot of Apple Brandy into it.
