I have a couple and a friend wants one but Im kinda attached to it them. I got them on my first road trip with my little daughter....
He made a offer thats equal in value $ wise but just doesnt thrill me(a parabola and darkness)
I can go get parabola when its released at the store and I actually dont really care for darkness....

He is going to hill farmstead for zwanze day. Will there be equally valuable beers there available?
Id just think ba9000 being a one off brewery only beer is worth more not dollar wise but exclusivity wise.
Am I being a greedy dick? Sorry I just dont have cool beers like this in quantity to trade away. Anything cool and rare that is worth something I tend to keep and drink instead of trading.

Maybe just have him get me a case of HT for it:wink:
    Thanks!

If he's your friend (and you have a couple), why not just give him one...or drink one together???

That is a good point..... I did offer to drink one with him but he wants it for a event he is going to. I suppose I shouldnt be so stingy. LOL
Im feeling like a dick even pondering it.

And feeling like a bigger DICK after reading the second post.

    Thanks guys!

well fuck that tell him you'll open one with him but if he wants to drink it without you you shouldn't be expected to just give it away

If you can't work out a swap with someone you know, for the love of God make sure you stay off ISO/FT.

This is kinda how I feel, but Ive just decided to let him have it.... In the end its just beer that I will turn into piss....
    Whats a troll post? Bro

I guess in the end I should have expect to get flamed for a thread like this.
In all actuality, I just do not want to trade one of these away. I kinda explained that to him in not so many words but I guess I could have just make it bright and clear that I do not want to let it go unless it was for something Ive really wanted....

Either way, if it will make his experience at the event he is going to more enjoyable and he has fun and likes the beer then Im ok with him having it. I would have just preferred to drink it with him rather than him taking it and drinking it at a tasting with others. Again, me being selfish.

I should have started this whole thing differently or just put more thought into it first. The only other way I can debate this to you in disagreement is look in your cellar and spot a couple of your very favorite bottles of beer that you dont really want to get rid of and then have a buddy ask to have one to drink at a tasting.

Either way, Im over it and am just gonna hook him up.

    Cheers!!!

Is there a reason you can't go to the tasting event with him?

I would just open the beer with him since he's your friend. But how good of a friend is he if he wants your good beer to open at a tasting without you. I believe this is a new term called a "2012 paradox".

And if he's your friend, he should be picking you stuff up from Hill Farmstead when he goes without trying to milk you dry. 2012 paradox indeed.

this. if he'll turn down the chance to drink a beer he really wants with a good friend because he wants to show up at a bottle share and be the cool bro with BA9000, just keep it. especially if he's not willing to reciprocate the favor on the same level of magnitude (i use that term loosely)

One time I had a BA9000; I never thought about trading it. Instead, I opened it on my birthday (wait... does that mean I didn't win my birthday?) and shared it with my friends. I guarantee you that was the most value maximization that bottle could have seen.

OP, if you don't trust that your friend will hook you up ten times over in return, he ain't a friend. I guess if he's going to fuck you over, then definitely do not just let him have it. Other than that, I have no advice.

HF generally isn't expensive, I would assume if he's a friend he'll mule you back some HT and HF, give him the money, and he buys what you have from whats available. For his trouble you pop a bottle with him and enjoy it. If he wants a bottle for himself that's for you to judge not not me. If I have two and a really good friend wants one I'd give it to him , I don't trade it. So I guess it depends on how close a friend he is.

That's a lot easier to say when you have 4 chocolate rains chillaxing in your cellar with Blaeber, BVDL, and Rare in your stomach. It's pretty tough to let go of your first whale-ish beer when you aren't sure when/if you'll see another.

Well said Nixon. But if there is one thing I've learned from this site, it is to trust in Beer Karma. I never cease to be amazed by the generosity of other BAs who go out of their way to hook me up with wants even if I have no idea that they're doing it. Same goes for those who fix "trades gone wrong" (MNRyan). Have faith OP, karma will smile on you.

This is why I only collect beers. I never actually open and drink them. No expectations that way.

If he's going only on the day of Zwanze day I think the retail shop is closed so he couldn't buy anything at HF. Similarly he probably won't be able to buy any HT at the brewery because they might be sold out by Saturday.
