Trying to crack this mystery. All I know is it's an IPA, being advertised as "very rare" and "better than 3F" by the store unveiling it later. Any ideas? Here's a photo...

is it rare based on where you are located? As in, maybe it's highly distributed in the mid-west or west coast and just not on the east coast? Or, is it just an overall rare beer no matter where you are located?

Coconut infused beers are all the rage these days. I think Kona Brew started the hype, but not the style.

Sorry, I was referring to Three Floyds. They also said the bottle is a 2006 and they're raffling it, winner gets to buy it for $30.

This raffle is in Ohio. Does $30 sound about right for an '06 120? I don't even think you can sell beer that strong in Ohio... not sure though.

My guess would be 120 Minute. It'd be rare in my state with their foolish laws.

I hope its 120, I can't think of any other 7 year old IPA that would be worth drinking let alone paying $30 for

120 is above Ohio's ABV cap.

This is Savor in Columbus who is selling it. Looks like they are raffling 120 and the ABV laws be damned.

Hm. Maybe Columbus Police will be making an appearance at this raffle?

If it's a 120, skip this purchase. Buy a new one and keep it yourself. It's not worth $30 IMHO.
Thanx. I needed a chuckle today.

I doubt CPD has a stake in ABV laws--but Ohio Liquor Commission might.

Is there perhaps a loophole for a raffle?

I thought that too, but I feel like that argument is dead once the raffle-winner hands over the 30 bucks for it.

To my knowledge, there is no loophole for raffles, and all beers sold in the state must go through label approval through Ohio Liquor Control. It sounds to me like someone is selling a personal bottle under the radar.

It wouldn't be the first time. I bought a Zombie Dust in Ohio at a retailer before it was ever approved. The merchant literally just went to Three Floyds, bought a case, and sold it.
