The Sun King CANvitational will take place in the heart of the Midwest – Indianapolis, IN. Located on Georgia Street, known for the Super Bowl XLVI festivities, and newly renovated Pan Am Plaza, the CANvitational is set to showcase 30+ craft breweries from around the county who CAN.

On Saturday, September 28th, 2013, the inaugural CANvitational will enlighten patrons to sample craft beer from award winning breweries from across the USA, enjoy local Indy eats provided by food trucks and music (DJ Helicon and DJ Action Jackson), in an urban downtown atmosphere.

Event Times:

• Early Entry 12:00 PM
• General Admission and Designated Drivers 1:00 PM
• Events ends at 5:00 PM

Ticket Prices:

• Early Entry $75 (Click Here For Tickets) – Early Entry Ticket allows ticket holder entry an hour earlier than General Admission ticket holders. A sampling glass will be provided for each ticket holder. Early Entry ticket holder will have access to sampling from 30+ breweries from around the country. Early Entry ticket holder will receive one (1) free event t-shirt*.

*T-shirt must be claimed at Merchandise Booth during the time of the event. T-shirts not claimed will not be available for pickup (or shipment) after the event.

• General Admission $50 (Click Here For Tickets) – General Admission Ticket allows ticket holder entry into the event. A sampling glass will be provided for each ticket holder. GA ticket holder will have access to sampling from 30+ breweries from around the country.


• Designated Driver $10 (Click Here For Tickets)– Designated Driver Ticket* allows Designated Driver entry into the event. Soda and water are available for the Designated Driver.

*The Designated Driver entry does NOT include sampling glass or sampling of beer.

Ticket sales will go on sale the week of the 12th from what I understand.

 

Why limit to canned beers? How about a bottled beer festival? It is very cool they are bringing in outide breweries, but why not have a festival of overall just great beer? The quality of the beer comes first and its packaging is way down the list for me.

To each his own. I hope it is a good event and I love the idea of Georgia street and Pan Am Plaza. How many younger drinkers will even know the history of Pan Am Plaza?

Because while not prevalent on this forum, the anti-canned beer bias is still hard and strong in the minds of many people. What better way to convince some skeptics than to bring in some of the best canned beer in the country?

 

I have zero problem with canned beer. I don't like that the packaging seems to be taking a front seat to quality. I don't care if the beer comes from cans, bottles, kegs, cask, hogshead, growler, or a milk jug. Does the beer taste good? I don't think people look down on cans. Look how much beer SK moves in cans at 11.99 a pop for pale ale. They don't have any problem with people bashing cans.


At the end of the day is the beer good? These are all top breweries coming, but to limit it to only canned beer just seems a bit self serving when SK doesn't need that.
