Recently, I've been getting a lot of White Birch beers with infections.

The worst was the berliner weisse I cracked yesterday, that smelled like vomit.

Are they having wide-spread QC issues?

I guess up until recently I've been lucky, then - because I didn't really start getting bummed bottle after bummed bottle until a few months ago.

That's a shame, the Berliner has been the one beer they've made in the past that I've enjoyed (well, that and a short run "American Wild" a few years back that was surprisingly fantastic).

The inconsistent product and high price tag were what caused me to stop purchasing them a year or so ago. I think at least the price has come down a little bit over this time so that is a good thing.

Only drain pour I have had in the last 10 years has been.... ...White Birch. Haven't tried one since...

From day one their stuff has been all over the place. It's really unfortunate because I've had some excellent bottles from them but I'm just not willing to take the risk anymore. Unless someone recommends me a beer from a specific batch they've tried recently, I won't buy.

I thought that they tried to make all their beers smell like gym socks and taste like vomit.

I'm sad to say that I checked the post date of the OP; I thought someone might have dredged up a 3 year old thread.

So you're the one guy still buying them, thought someone maybe knocked one off the shelf when I noticed a bottle without dust on it.

The first bottle of the Berliner that I had about 6-7 weeks ago maybe? It was great. I bought another one last week... vomit.

It is too bad. I've been seeing inconsistency from them since day one. I haven't been able to bring myself to buy anything g except one of their Apprentice series, but I've had their stuff at tastings on and off all along. Some of them are quite good batches, others have a delicate flavor of band-aids and Bologna.
Again, it's too bad. I met Bill Herlicka and he seems to be a real nice Guy with a passion for brewing. If he can get consistancy where it needs to be and maybe get his price point down a bit, he could have some winners there.

They've been putting out bad product for too long to salvage their reputation I think. They'll close sooner or later I'm sure.

I'm local and unfortunately have given up unless they are doing a collaboration (they did one with Martha's Exchange which was pretty good.) They also did a collaboration Braggot which tasted like wet. musty paper. To their credit they did reach out to me to offer a replacement.
