Boston.com listed the "10 most notable new(ish) breweries in New England." The list includes Jack's Abby, Trillium, Notch, Brash, Newburyport, Tree House, Maine Beer Co., Brewmaster Jack, Slumbrew, and New England Brewing Co:

The reporter doesn't qualify "notable" or "new(ish)," so there are probably many more breweries that could have been included. Who do you think is missing from this list? What are your reactions?

That is a pretty good list...maybe add marshal Wharf and blue lobster.

They do of course qualify new(ish), but it's pretty funny NEBCO's on this list, given that this iteration is 10 years old, and if you think about the older iterations, it's what, 20 years old?

As long as you don't interpret this as a "best of" list or ranking, nothing wrong with the list. I suppose, he could have defined "newish". Still, not a competent reporter, not worth the clicks.

Oh, and another thing--this is not the first thread on this subject, so don't be surprised at a merger.

List seems pretty MA heavy. Last time I checked New England had a bunch of states. If NEBCO and Jack's Abby count, how about Hill Farmstead? Bunker Brewing? Rising Tide?

Also, pretty damn heavy on the contract brewers. Not going to start the "skin in the game" debate again, but how about some love for the brick and mortar guys?

It's the Boston Globe. Any mention of outsiders is a bonus. FWIW, I did not like Rising Tide at tastings. Serviceable darks, but everything else subpar. Mayflower is better overall for a standard lineup. And HF is clearly missing, even though it's newer than some of the other ones mentioned. It is quite a hike from Boston, but no worse than Maine or NEBCO.

All I'm saying is if you're going to say New England, you better look at all of New England. If you want to focus on the Boston area, just say so. I personally would take five of these off the list and replace them with other breweries from around the region. Also, how about Night Shift and Idle Hands?

Rising Tide is hit or miss. I think they brew some really fantastic stuff, but some of their other offerings are definitely underwhelming. But they sure beat a few on this list.

Mystic is becoming my favorite brewery in the state and arguablly New England. Great list and I appreciate the hype for these deserving breweries, but I think they are missing. I would also put Two Roads on there.

It's a start. He only had 10 slots to fill. Like I said, pay no attention to his writing--it's not worth it.

This is a weird list, but about what I'd expect from boston.com.

More specifically what you should expect from this contributor. They keep putting up photo slide shows from him and it seems based on whatever pretty pictures he can find rather than the beer. Not very impressive.

Some of you have high standards for click-bait...

The Phoenix had a better list in one of its last issues. And it's still online.

It's a passable list. I had expected less from el Globo.
