As a member of Team SKI (distributors), I can confirm the mistake was made in the communication between SKI and Bierkraft. The SKI sales rep somehow thought the Kuhnhenn barrel listed on their inventory was BBBW, when in fact SKI has never had that beer available in a barrel and Bierkraft was not at fault whatsoever. We will do our best to get a BBBW barrel and send it over to Bierkraft. If anyone was inconvenienced by the miscommunication or felt they were mislead, please beermail me and I will make it up to you. Thank you for your continued support of Kuhnhenn in the New York market.

I miss the good old Hop Devil Grill days when no one knew about Kuhnhenn and we were quaffing countless brews from the good folks from Warren, MI without much fanfare. Mike, thank you for persuading them to start distributing to NYC/NY market.

First time I ever had Raspberry Eisbock was at Hop Devil waaaaaay back when.

Probably the first time I ever had a Kuhnhenn beer as well. Damn.

Holy shit. I dont know how, but I forgot that place existed. Used to go there all the time back in the day for their $1 taco deals and $4 (?) draft specials, along with their occasional event. Are they around still? Doesn't seem like they get much mention these days.

The whole Tex-Mex steez is still kinda "new". They used to just have your basic bar food selection for the longest time. At some point, they closed up shop for a minute and popped back up with the new look/menu. I wanna say around 2007 or 2008?

Used to be such a destination. Their annual hop fest was pretty amazing too. Somehow managed to have my first Two Hearted and Pliny there during that event one year.

The Belgian Room that was attached used to be pretty nice too. Getting a pour of Cantillon there was never really that big of a deal. Wonder if it's even around anymore...

Is it? How new is "new"? I lived in the LES 5-6 years ago, which is when I used to hang out at Hop Devil... I thought that was before the menu/decor changes, but I could be wrong. For some reason, I have it in my head that the tacos were on the old menu as well as the new.

Regardless, glad this place was mentioned. I'll have to make a trip over there soon just to see what's happening.

Late 2008-ish (there may have been tacos before...can't recall, but it wasn't nearly as Mex-centric as it became after the reopening. Had more of a sports bar feel previously):

There was a court-ordered closure earlier that year for underage drinking charges

Yeah, I remember pre-menu change days, though I wasn't there nearly as often then. The change happened while I was living in the neighborhood, and while I much preferred the non-faux-mex version aesthetically, I'm also a giant sucker for cheap tacos, so I wound up hanging out there more after the change. Thinking back, I'm pretty sure I'm wrong about the tacos being on the old and new menus.

Edit: I actually just found my emails from Beer Bros newsletters from when they closed and re-opened. It's pretty big so I won't copy it here, but it the grand re-opening email arrived on 12/11/2008, so 4.5 ears ago.... proving my memory is all kinds of terrible.
