Yes, from last months release. I'm thinking my bad RareR was simply not sealed correctly. At first I wrote it off as being hypersensitive after the bad Rare. The RareR had a funky sour smell and taste. By comparison, the odor from the infected Rare was much, much worse. You could still pick up the base beer in the RareR but it wasnt a pleasant experience. I opened another RareR the following day and it was notably better than the first.

My buddy and I bought 6, we have drank 2 so far, one was quite tasty as usual, the other was a little bit off.

A buddy just opened one on Saturday and it was good, but not as good as the BADLs that we erroneously opened behind it.

How do you erroneously open a Barrel Aged Dark Lord?

My question is why are the FL people still trading it at all. Wouldnt you just take it back? Is it worth the risk at this point? Are some of them trying to pull a fast one in hopes that it might not be infected. I would not trade something that appears to be 50 percent infected. But that is just me.

Because they bought an entire box full of growlers to trade off to the highest bidder, and they're going to land their whales, infections be damned!

I think part of the problem here is you're supposed to open the growler and try it before returning it. So, if you're sitting on 12 growlers that need to be opened within the next 2 weeks to get a refund, that's an awful lot of beer to drink yourself if they all turn out to be good. Plus they'd basically be eating the cost of the growlers that they intended to trade away.

So, if you remove trading from the equation, then nobody would ever buy that many growlers for themselves. But they already did buy that many. So, now they're in a predicament where they either need to eat the money/beer, or trade to unsuspecting traders.

I actually had some one back out on the whole set but still wanted the rarer and nooner. To me no big deal I only bought a couple sets anyways.

Most aren't. See my post on page 1 of this thread. Since the initial news starting coming out late last week I have only see a few Rare DOS growlers up for trade in the FT:ISO forum. And of those I haven't seen a "closing this down" comment posted for any of them. Most folks I know that still have some are opening them now and getting in contact with Doug if there is a problem.

Has anyone had problems with the recent RareR or Nooner releases? Will be cracking my Rare sooner than I had planned to see if I got a good one or not, wondering whether I should open all three.

I opened a Rare today and it was definitely infected. Lots of sour cherry and red wine. It's too bad that the barrel character was totally masked.

So has it been confirmed that it will be a money refund or beer refund?
