Like most people I really enjoy summer and like some people in this community I really enjoy barleywines, English and American. As most of us know summer is not the season for barleywines except the very few that are easily found year round and they're getting harder and harder to find. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I might be able to find near chicago this time of year?

What should I be keeping an eye out for as the weather grows colder?

I'd go for North Coast's Old Stock. While it might be considered an Old Ale, the line is quite blurred between those two. Also, Bells' Third Coast is another great one.

I would just go around and pick up all that remains of Monster Ale, that stuff is fantastic!

Step up your cellar game bro! Just messing. Keep an eye out for JW Lees...its a personal favorite, though distro is irregular.

Don't know when it's do out...but...just wait for Bourbon County Brand Barleywine. If it's King Henry without Pappy barrels...I think I'll be able to get by.

Anchor Old Foghorn is year round and usually ready to drink fresh, a rarity for the style.

I'm still seeing Bigfoot everywhere around here. If they would reduce the price I'd grab a case. As is ill let them cellar it on the shelf and buy more as needed.

There's a bunch of Avery Dry Hopped Hog Heaven around here and it's fantastic. Also must admit I love Pike BW and it's only 3.99 a bomber. Summery lighter BW's I think of Flying Mouflan.

I can still find Bigfoot just about everywhere I frequent, and have even gotten a couple old guardians I'm holding on to. Third coast old is nowhere to be found and I really hadn't considered north coast to be honest, I assumed it was an old ale...the line is certainly blurred

I'll have to look for Avery, I'm just trying to keep my eyes open so I can get some good bw and also try some new ones.

Side note: I actually thought up this thread because I was drinking a Pipeworks murderous that I had been saving for a bit.

Does a Chicago distributor work with B United? I can't find any info for it. They import JW Lees and have several vintages for places to order at any time.

Where are you searching? OP Binny's usually has a shelf full of it and the cask variants.
