I live in Indiana. A good friend recently brought back a haul of New Glarus & Central Waters brews from his trip up to Minnesota. I chipped in some money and he nabbed plenty of NG for me, which I was overwhelmingly appreciative of. Among the NG beers was 2 bombers, each of their highly regarded fruit beers.

The first I tried was SERENDIPITY, and I thought it was fantastic! The brewery proclaims it as a "happy accident" mixture of apples, cranberries, and cherries, and together with a nice sour touch I fell instantly in love.

The second bomber was the STRAWBERRY RHUBARB, of which I had heard many great things about. It did not disappoint, and tasted like homemade pie in a bottle.

I'm not sure which one I like more, they are oh so close. If I had to choose, I think it would be SERENDIPITY by a slight margin.

I was just curious what everyone else who has had these beers think. Which would you choose??

Serendipity is good, but I like the Wisconsin Belgian Red even better. Will be drinking the Strawberry Rhubarb later this evening. Cheers!

I'll have to keep an eye out for the Belgian Red. Thanks!

Serendipity is better balanced between sweet and tart. Strawberry rhubarb is a bit cloying but still very good.

Serendipity replaced Belgian Red last year after the Wisconsin cherry crop was essentially wiped out in the Spring of 2012. It sounds like Belgian Red should be back later this year.

I like the strawberry more since serendipity was just to sweet for my tastes

I can definitely see liking the Strawberry more if you don't like to get too sweet. It is so perfectly light on sweetness.

Ironically, I received a bottle of each last night. I have yet to try them, but I'm excited to see what all of the fuss is about. Sounds like they are right up my ally.

In my experience, Belgian Red has annihilated all other New Glarus fruit beers to-date. I thought Serendipity was especially disappointing given the incredibly high scores it was receiving. It just didn't do it for me. I just got a bottle of the Strawberry Rhubarb and will report back once it's consumed.

Serendipity would be my first pick. I was recovering from a cough when I tried the Strawberry Rhubarb and I think the tartness was somewhat abrasive. I need to give it another try though.

The answer is go find Raspberry Tart.

I'll make my list of the four fruit beers because it's bound to happen anyway.

    1) Raspberry Tart
    2) Belgian Red
    3) Strawberry Rhubarb
    4) Serendipity

I'll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the fruit beers flow like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Wisconsin.

    For me:

    1. Belgian Red
    2. Serendipity
    3. Raspberry Tart
    4. Strawberry Rhubarb

But they are all *very* close, and I could probably have them in a different order tomorrow, based on which way the wind is blowing. Pretty sure Belgian Red will always be #1 though.

Wisconsin is my third favorite state after Michigan and Minnesota. Good times, real people, and the best, the best, fruit beers.

New Glarus really doesn't know how to make a bad fruit beer. All four of their 750s are delicious. I will say, however, that I agree with a description from jjheinrichs that the Strawberry Rhubarb is the "Ringo" of the NG fruit beers. Take that as you will

Does anyone know if Serendipity is getting the gate once Belgian Red comes back?
