Will you be leaving NC and heading elsewhere? If so, why not buy a "top shelf" beer from a local/regional brewery? If you haven't tried any beers from Hoppin Frog and there is no significance other than their beers are expensive, I see no reason to buy it. Is there a beer that you have always wanted to try but passed up on because of the price, or is that your reasoning behind choosing Hoppin Frog in particular?

First of all; what is that suppose to mean? Second of all, just because I live in France, doesn't mean that I am from France. So what if I was french, and had an opinion on a little brewery from Akron OH, is there something wrong with that?

I'm a good ole 'merican and just so you know, Hoppin Frog is available in Europe and I happen to sell them at my bottleshop in Paris; I've got BA Boris sittin on the shelf as we speak...my point was that the OP seemed to be looking at Hoppin Frog, just because it was pricey and for no other particular reason.

Haha I must of missed that part. I'm not a huge fan of American style barleywines, although I realy enjoy malt forward ones.

This is very good idea. There is no vanilla in BA though. I like myself both a lot.

Hoppin'Frog is very good, just depends on your budget. If it's not a stretch for you, I say go for it! Some other nice victory beer could be Unibroue 17, if you like Belgian Quads. May be sold out in many places by now though.

BM me your address and i will gladly send a BA stout. I have half a case of Ivan laying around and will gladly give one to someone who served this great country.

Hoppin Frog is expensive enough...in Ohio. If you're paying almost double Ohio prices, IMO it's definitely not worth it. But if you have your heart set on it and really want to try it, then go for it. There's got to be premium local beers in your area that don't have distribution costs factored in- just get 2 or 3 of those for the same price.

I like a BA imperial stout more than any other beer. If you feel the same, then I'd buy it, but only if no other reputable BA imperial stouts are available. I've had their BA Boris and would put it in the top 5 BA stouts I've had.

    1. Goose Island Bourbon insert title here: ()
    2. Big Bad Baptist
    5. The Abyss-some vintages are better than others
    4. KBS
    5.. BA Boris
