Hey all, My wife is travelling to Winnipeg on business in the next couple weeks. I wanted to ask your advice for any good bottle shops and beer recomendations. Of course, Cantillon would be awesome if its around, but Id love to hear any suggestions for solid local brews too. Thanks for reading! Cheers
All "Bottle shops" are government owned liquor stores. There is no Cantillion or other slurs in the province. As previously mentioned, Half Pints is the only local beer maker of any renown, but right now they don't have anything terribly special out. The government now runs a pretty good website (liquormarts.ca) that will let you know what's in... Best bets right now are Rochefort 10 & 6 at about $4 a bottle. As for location, if downtown go to Osborne Village's LC. If by the airport, go to the Polo Park LC.
Lol. I know, as I'm buying a shipment out of BC and bragged about it in a US thread where they pulled the "But you're from Canada card", I called BS as the complainer lives closer to the beers I'm getting then I do FYI OP, Alberta, BC & Nova Scotia seem to be the only places I know where stores have Cantillon, you can order it from time to time in Quebec.
no one's asked yet why his wife's travelling to Wpg for business.... i'm also fond of Fort Gary Dark cans. probably just sentiment. hell, i used to bring back a 12-pack of Standard after i moved.
don't joke. i forget what state my friend was in, but he saw the small bottles of Cantillon being sold in an AM/PM
There have been reports of Cantillon at 7-11 in California.... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/388/3659/?ba=Westsidebuddha
