Some of us like my friends and I buy for people outside of this forum who do like these beers but don't have the resources to chase them down. It's kind of a catch 22; sometimes you have to chase beer to even get any so more people whom you know personally can get it, further depriving others of it.

Almost everyone on this forum does that. Not everyone posts a picture of every single bottle they purchase to show off. Not that I care, but I also don't care what peoples work schedule and beer buying schedules are. There are a lot of great beers in Texas, made in the state, and especially recently being distributed in the state, and lots of great tasting groups. People bragging about waiting in line to get beers that would sit on the shelf everywhere else (even though some are excellent) is not impressive and pretty annoying frankly.

Calling bullshit on the buying for friends, I personally don't consider any trading partners to be friends.

Edit: not that I care I got my bottles and I hardly ever miss a release unless I want to, but I also don't brag and I also don't lie about it.

Some people have lives outside of beer and friends they've known longer than a certain internet forum has existed that they like to share the experience with. I'm not going to argue with anyone any longer, no matter how much anyone thinks down upon people.

The only thing I'm trading is emotional satisfaction with delighted friends.

I'm not saying I don't buy beers for friends, I just don't flaunt it online especially when its a limitd release. I don't know about you but I wouldn't feel comfortable announcing to every other BA in my city (whether I'm hooking a few of them up or not) how many beers I was able to get when they potentailly got little to nothing. Thats the issue, its not buying beers for friends.

That would be great for the next bottle share:

Me: "Hi, I'm Brad nice to meet you."
Random BA: thinking to himself "oh, you're the ahole who posted how many bottles of XYZ you got when I got nothing"

How would you feel if you had a long day at work and were just looking forward to coming home and splitting these limited beers with your wife, friend, dad, etc. You stop at 5 different places on the way home and they all tell you "sorry, we sold out". Then you come home and open this thread.

Edit: I honestly don't think most people were being malicious (although I question a few posts) and were just excited. It's probably nothing most people even thought about which partof the reason I finally said something. If people keep posting stuff like this, a few bridges are bound to be burned which would be ashame.

Good point. It's happened to me more than once. It sucks.

Next time something big comes out though I will probably forget about this conversation, do this once more, and then get chastised all over again.

This is true as I am easily excitable and child-like.

Bridges do get burned when stuff like this happens because some folks think they are in the "in crowd" and when they get nada, up in flames goes the bridge.

Which is the point being made here by cfh and others. You newer, "excitable and child-like" BAs could stand to learn a bit from the sages around here.

meh. I could care less if people post pics and brag about their hauls. good for them.

I think it's childish to get butthurt over it...plus, there's plenty of good beers on the shelves. BIG WHOOP.

I'm not trying to make anyone feel guilty or not have fun "chasing" beers (I use the term fun very loosely). A lot of us do hook each other up and help each other out but we keep it private. Its just something to think about in future and I'm sure some people don't give a shit but what comes around goes around.

BTW, I will say H-town is pretty badass about sharing info with each other about when and where beers are going on sale. Of course that can be good or bad but I won't even go there, haha.

Actually I was going to say good for people actually trying to help each other out and bad for people who actually expect there to be any beer left after the hoarders hit it. With some of the crowd down there I sure as shit wouldn't want my local store announced in this thread.

this is how EVERYONE should post from now on.

Don't say how many beers or what kinda beers you've acquired.

let's be politically correct and protect people's feelings.

Dude you just don't get it and I promise you other people will notice. I'm sure you could care less. People with your attitude is part of the reason I said this entire SW forum is going to shit. It's not as much about "protecting feelings" as it is not being an asshole which I'm sure is hard for you to comprehend. Meh.
