Kuhnhenn pricing/rarity questions

$7,$8,$8,$8 per bottle..Brewery only...All but Dark Heathen are released during winter solstice. Dark Heathen released during summer solstice.. BB4d will come out at times during the year too..

 

Not sure about the others but regular 4D is def not brewery only...we get it here in NY.

 

And nobody can figure out why! It hasn't been on the shelves in Michigan for at least 2 years.

 

Haha...weird. Bottle-wise, the 4D and the bock (forget the name) are the only two I've seen here. We have been seeing more and more kegs pop up in NY though recently. Blueberry Pancake, DRIPA, A Few Shillings... I must say I like it..I like it alot

Kuhnhenn has had a very long standing relationship with our distributor (SKI) who persuaded them to start distributing kegs and limited bottles to NYC/upstate. That's what a good relationship sometimes does for you. Other than NYC and maybe some places in Canada Kuhnhenn does not distribute anywhere else outside MI. We are certainly happy about this. 4D and Dark Heathen can probably be still found in few shops around here.

 

It was also on the shelves in Ontario for a little while as well...

 

Yeah, thanks a lot guys. For some reason regular 4D was gone before BB4D from the brewery this year and didn't make it to a single shelf around MI, but did hit Canada and NY.
Also, a heads up on BBBW this year. They didn't actually make any this last Winter Solstice, but did release some bottles of the '11 batch with '12 labels on it. It was only 1 bottle limit per person though. They should have a bunch of it at Solstice this year, along with 4D and BB4D again.
If you have a hard time landing any of that stuff now and don't mind waiting then it should be much easier to get around December.

 

long island gets kuhnhenn too. kegs on growler stations and bars regularly and for bottles, we got bb4d a few years ago. last stuff we got was 4d, braggot, dark heathen tripel bock, and 9. didn't get any new bottles probably in over a year, but some of the last stuff is still around here and there.

 

Kuhnhenn sucks. Don't bother wasting your time........

 

What about KRE price and availability?

 

Recent release was $30 a bottle and a case (12) per person limit

 

Thanks for the quick reply. What do folks usually trade for these? I know MI doesn't get Boulevard....or is a couple bottles of those not enough? Just trying not to insult folks.

It's a brewery only release at a small place that releases these sporadically.

It's limited and very well regarded. I don't think a 2 pack of Saison Brett is going to get you one.

You probably have to offer a well regarded low production brewery only release to get one.

How hard is it to get a DRIPA growler?

Are there only certain times you should try to trade for it? Or is it regular enough?

 

DRIPA comes to NY on the regular. when it hits town it is essentially everywhere for a few weeks.

 

Its usually on tap at the brewery all the time...It goes on and off on being able to get it in a growler, but I dont think you would have any problem getting it...
