So, after Spec's "sold out", I walked in and bought four bottles. Then I found out I won $100 from Petrol Station. Today's working out OK.

I think the issue with Houston vs all the other Texas cities, is that our metropolitan area is much greater than the other bigger cities ie Austin Dallas SA. Yet our allotment is similar, and in most cases Downtown specs is the only store to get releases. Which if I'm going to drive into the city I'm going to get my Limit on sole fact that, if I like it I won't have a 30mile trec back. I blame the breweries for not sending our city more of these releases.

 

At 10:10 they tweeted it was sold out but then at 10:30 they tweeted "have more coming in the back now" and "come back, only got half our order initially." Kind of a bizarre mixup, especially if they turned people away that got there early.

 

I think Jester King Whiskey Barrel Rodeo ushered in the insta-sellout era. Nothing has been the same since.

People are hoarding stuff that isn't even that good or even that limited. I'm looking at you Pumpkinator!

I wasn't around for Whiskey Rodeo. What was that like?

I love Pumpkinator. It's the only pumpkin beer I can stomach besides DFH Punkin and Krunkin Pumpkin. And thought DR9 was delicious as well. Was like drinking a pumpkin sugar cookie. Super excited for a rum-barrel aged Pumpkinator if it comes to fruition.

 

Whiskey Rodeo was crazy. Nobody had good info and as soon as Specs tweeted, you had better have been in your car. A few other locations got it, but not much. Remember there were only 100 cases.

Try Good Gourd from CCB. So much better than Pumpkinator! DR9 was good, Pumkinator not too much. The point was it's a regular seasonal that shows how bad Houston can be.

The next step will be people from Houston driving to Austin/SA to take all their beer. lol

 

What the heck!!? Pumpkinator is a really high quality beer. I wish I had more from last year, and I am going to break the bank when it hits this year.

 

It's an opinion thing. For every person who says they love it I can find you somebody who says, "meh...".

Like I said, compare it to Good Gourd and see what you are missing. Heck, I'll take Pumking over Pumkinator.

I don't like Nutmeg enough to praise Pumkinator.

That said, DR9 was really damn good. Spice profile has never been the same since.

 

Dallas Spec's have no idea when they will get it.
