Tonight on the 10 o' clock news, riots break out at Specs Downtown. Houston SWAT team called in to negotiate with Matt Chow, who took several employees hostage and demanded he receive 5 cases or else he would "Pop a cap up in this b*tch".

 

I read that they agreed to the 5 cases, but one case HAD to be used for local trading only

I wonder if other regional sections misbehave as often as the SW forum.

 

No they don't. It's extremely boring when looking for info on other areas although much more helpful since you don't have to wade through all the BS.

Ha ha, nuts. Should have known. A few weeks ago I cracked open my 2012 with a friend. I told him I'd get another when it drops in a month. I thought even with all the hoarding and bullcrap bottle limits it won't be a problem at all. Now even this sells out in ten minutes. I guess few of us will be getting BBXXV. And to think it would sit on the shelf for a month or more. In other news, Real Ale Kolsch is really freaking good. Glad it isn't barrel aged

 

Apparently you haven't visited the Pacific Forum or Great Lakes forum very often. Those threads make the SW look amateur. It even gets better (or worse depending on how you look at it) because the Great Lakes and Pacific guys start going after each other in their own forums. Its brutal.

FYI, this was last year. First bottle acquired a week after it came out. Had a bottle at Petrol and needed more. Went back and bought 5 more a week later (so 2 weeks after release), 2 of which when to Chad (Thirdeye). The 5 I bought wasn't even the rest. There were still some on the shelf.

THIS should show you how crazy craft beer has gotten in a year!

2 weeks after release? Thats not nearly as cool, you left it on the shelf 2 weeks too long for other people to buy. Bad hoarder, bad! Plus you're just posting it now? Should have had a play by play the day it was released to rub it in more. Amateur.

 

I think I did post it back then... And even mentioned that it was still on the shelf and I even left some.

I remember having no problem whatsoever getting Uncle Jacob's last year, but thats because our little Specs in Round Rock got 5 cases. This year, most places were lucky to get 1, or maybe 2. (and Specs Round Rock got ZERO)

As these breweries grow and increase distribution, I think we'll continue to see a tightening in amounts that get distributed into our state (despite Texas being one of the largest states, and one of the higher states in terms of per capita consumption)

 

You got that right. We had cases of Abyss sitting around a week or two, even longer, a few years ago. Last year Deschutes increased distro and many places here were lucky to get a case. That was one of the first times I said f it and didn't even bother seeking it out.

 

Uncle Jacobs and avery XX IPA will be released on Monday in DFW

 

Last year UJ was at downtown specs for easily a week. I know it took me a few days to get down there. I remember 2-3yrs ago abyss set at the Jones/290 specs for weeks. Oh, how the times have changed(I've only been into craft for 4yrs)... /sarcasm
