I've seen Heineken 5L "gift" bottles in Europe (pretty cheap, actually, especially after the gift-crazy season). I'd imagine a 6L Cureux would be much preferred over those. All you need is a few friends and a wheelbarrow to cart the money to the store...

 

There is an empty 9L Temptation bottle in the Russian River production facility tasting room...

I have one of those and a 9L of 2007 Piraat I'm trying to sell for $260

 

Bigger bottles are generally more expensive price per oz than normal sized ones, contrary to common pricing structure. Which is why I'll probably never buy any.

i have a friend with one of these bottles. can anyone confirm the rumor that if you bring the empty bottle back to the brewery, they will refill it at no charge?

If you look closely at the second picture of this post, those are 9L bottles at Costco.
