Air lock sniffs are heavenly. Stop by in 5 weeks and taste.

Haha, really, funny how I seek out and try try all these rarer beers along the way, and standard bearers, always on shelf, get passed along. When I bought the Orval I was reminded I haven't tried Rochefort 6. How many others do we all pass by while enjoying our way through the huge explosion of fine beer in which we gladly drown wearing huge smiles of satisfaction?

Just got a couple texts, and some friends have left over wedding kegs from yesterday, and are making chicken and waffles. Probably my last NBS brew, but it looks like the liver will be getting a workout! A very nice Rye Whiskey Brown Ale:http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16068/98195

    NEW OUD BRUIN SUNDAY
    Greeting's, fellow NBSers,
It's currently 79 degrees and mostly sunny in Washington's 2nd largest city. After a nice homemade attempt at a Denver omelette I spent the morning reading the last book of Rich Adkinson's Liberation Trilogy (great read if you're into military history), then did some kitchen cleaning. When it was time for a beery reward I went with a Monk's Cafe Sour Ale:

Wasn't as impressed as I had hoped to be, seemed rather bland.

Ya see? I'm not the only old timer who has passed by a standard. And I agree with you about the Monk's. I have given it 3 chances and it's done.

Had it on tap this week and liked it quite a bit. Not great but the reduced bitterness helped it blend with the food I was served.

    New Saison Sunday
    ||Sensory Series V.2 - Small Black by Stillwater Artisanal Ales||
    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22150/96965/?ba=kemoarps
    Greetings all!
Well I spent the last week on the road (StL->NOLA->ATX->PHX) with my little brother, and last sunday was the New Orleans to Austin stretch so it was more 'driving on top of a swamp' and less 'enjoying beer' (although I did get to try Sculpin again for the first time in a long time, and the first time anything approaching fresh, so there was that!)
Yesterday some big promotional company came to the small island where I was raised and built a giant skatepark, bringing in professional X-TREME(!!!!!!!!!) sports athletes and some awesome musical performances from some of the bigger Seattle area artists (locally speaking). FUN! Wish I'd been there to catch all the madness.
    Oh well.
The Stillwater Black Saison is.. OK. It's certainly drinkable and would probably go well on a float down the river, but it doesn't really stand out in any meaningful way for me. Just burnt grain liquified. In a bit, I'm going to throw caution to the winds and open the Storm King I had been saving for the last 3 years, but that accidentally spent the last nine months outside in Austin... Here's hoping all the talk about temperature is just overblown...

    NEW DIPA SUNDAY
Back with my 2nd and probably last new beer of the day:
This beer took quite a while to show up in bottles in my fair city - weeks after it was popping up in certain places on tap. All I can say is it was worth the wait!

    >>>>>> New IIPA Sunday <<<<<<

Checking in from the Columbia Basin with Rampant IPA from New Belgium. Pretty good really, better than the Ranger, so I would have it again.

And at 8.5% ABV how can you go wrong? ;-)

Seasonal here, with the wheat harvest winding down, light breezes and temps in the mid 80's. Fall is coming, but I'm holding off the Oktoberfests for a few more weeks yet.

    Happy Trails!

Finished up my night grilling burgers for the family. Fried up some potatoes and boiled some sweet corn. I'm sitting and relaxing after a fun Sunday. This is my last beer for the night, and what a beer it is. It was aged in 7, yes SEVEN, different types of barrels. It is deemed a artistic collage of cask aging alchemy. If you have a chance to try this beer, go for it! Hope all of you had a wonderful Sunday. What do you say; let's get together and do it again next week? Cheers!

    Happy New CANorado Beer Sunday!
Ahoy again, CANpers! I hope that your NBS has been a pleasant one so far. It has been a quiet day here at Chez Woody and no one has come by to firebomb me, so I count that as a win. In the loss column are the Pirates in 16 innings and the fact that a lot of the CANs from CANorado do not have extant pics and one of the basic tenants of The CANQuest (TM) is that no CANned beer shall be reviewed without a photo already approved and in place as photos of spent CANs look cheap. Does no one else own a camera? I am diligent, but I am only one person, albeit with multiple personalities.
Since our CANmercial break, brought to you by Ball, Crown and Rexam, I tripped off to New Zealand by way of CANorado:
then I came back to CANorado for a hot time in the Old Town:
and as the day progressed, I had a beer in the afternoon:
That is going to do it for me today as I have to get up early tomorrow and face the music. I do not regret or lament my CANpaign, but things are going to be painful for the foreseeable future for me. C'est la guerre!

I've always loved Arrogant Bastard, and only briefly tried the Oaked version over a year ago. AB got me into craft beer, and it is keeping me in it for sure. I love this beer, even though it may be simple compared to much of what is out there. Perfect pairing for Breaking Bad!

I went with a "half-and-half" (Black and Tan for you Brits) that did not separate: Vintage's Cat's Pajamas, billed as a "North English-style brown ale" with New Glarus' Strawberry Rhubarb ("Wild Fruit Ale")...result was a smooth, slightly sweet, slightly sour, drinkable beer...I would have preferred a bit more body, but it went rather well with my turkey sandwich.
