I recently tried Stone's Espresso Imperial Russian Stout from this year and officially ruined the original for myself. The complexity and creaminess is so much better in the Espresso version. I'd say it's easily my favorite Imperial Stout now. What's your favorite Russian Imperial Stout?

Oh man, thats like choosing the best Victorias Secret model. They're all so great. Love the simple non barrel aged Old Rasputin but for barrel aged I gotta go BCBS

Founders Imperial Stout and Dark Horse's Plead the 5th Imperial Stout. Also an obvious choice is Founders Breakfast Stout but people don't consider it an imperial stout even though it's a 8.3% beer and is listed as an imperial on here.

I used to live in Michigan and need to make a trip back to re-try/stock up on all the great beers there. It really is a great beer state that I wasn't ready for when I was in undergrad. I remember trying Founder's Breakfast Stout and thinking it tasted bad, I'm sure my opinion would be different now. On the other hand I loved Hop Slam and Final Absolution when I was there...

Green Flash Silva Stout is still the best I've had, but B.O.R.I.S. is probably still my favorite RIS that is easily obtained..

Honorable mention to D.O.R.I.S., Plead the 5th, Ten FIDY, Siberian Night, Expedition, Blackout Stout, Founders IS,
Green Flash Double Stout, Brooklyn BCS..

To qualify my answers, I am not considering anything barrel aged or any beer brewed with non-standard ingredients (fruit, coffee, vanilla, etc.). The former are usually better compared amongst themselves and the latter generally falls in the American Double/Imperial Stout category (splitting hairs, I know).

    Expedition
    TenFIDY
    New Holland Night Tripper
    Yeti
    Brooklyn Black Chocolate.

A "beer geek" card should be required to buy a beer like Breakfast Stout, otherwise it's wasted.

I'd have to say Ten Fidy. So delicious. Founders Imperial Stout is runner up.

That's a great attitude to have, maybe that way we can limit access to new and interesting beers that only beer geeks know about...because I bet you were always a beer geek. I started the process of becoming a beer geek simply because of the taste of a beer that "should" have been reserved for a geek. It is funny to me how we are supposed to be inclusive and welcoming and promoting good beer, yet so many want to restrict access. I'm sure you are kiding around, but that attitude toward special releases and other top beers is very common it seems.
