I was told that new members would not receive the FOBAB benefits, but August 3rd seems like it should count because the presale email didn't come out till the 15th.

Hope this is true. I've really wanted to tick that one.

A lot of people in here for the 2nd session. Any tastings or meet ups at breweries beforehand? It would be awesome to meet some other BA's before the event.

I prefer my hangover to come early so I'm good to go when I wake up on Sunday.

Again if anyone has 1 or more tickets pm me!

I'm flying in from Toronto to attend; I will bring you some Canadian whales in trade.

I'll go ahead and say it; this is a bad idea. There are so many amazing beers at FOBAB, it'd be a shame to show up even slightly buzzed and have the palate even slightly used. Afterwards, sure. you'll be pretty schnuckered and a couple Two Hearteds won't change that. But beforehand is kind of like wasting tastebuds and getting full on hot dogs before heading to all-you-can-eat ribeyes.

100% agree...went 2 years ago but attended the FFF 15th anniversary party beforehand (didn't expect to get tix to either, landed both somehow). and while I enjoyed FoBAB immensely and am bummed I am going to miss out this year, it would have been 100x better had I shown up sober.

Good call. I'm sure ill meet enough of you guys at the event. I just didnt know how the festivals like this went. I knew that there were huge tastings at DLD and other events like that, but I suppose youre not drinking amazing one-off beers for 4 hours at those events. Thanks for the heads up!

I just hope they're smart enough to open windows before the crowd comes in for the first session. It must have been a hundred degrees in that place last year!

to clear the heat and stagnant farts that permeated the first session? It was like I was drinking beer inside a port-a-john. Guys, does the nose on this BA Abraxas smell weird, oh wait nevermind, that giant sweaty dude just crop dusted me & my glass.

Lot of barrel character on those stagnant crop dusting clouds of stink.

I disagree. We had a pretty good bottle share Friday night last year and planning on doing the same again this year.

By the end of FoBAB things start to taste the same to me, and the shock of how great a certain beer is becomes a "yeah, that one is good too." Things that would blow you away at home become commonplace.

Wow, that sure reads like a complaint. Looking forward to this event massively. But I find that I lose objectivity as the day goes on! I will definitely not be consuming before the event.

Does anyone know when the tap list will be communicated and where that will be communicated?

    It isn't and won't.

Breweries may reveal on their own what they have entered. But the list is not actually released until you get the program in your hand the day of.

(In the past - the beer list would be revealed - but now, the competition guidelines require that they do not release the list).

Don't worry.. there will be plenty of good and interesting beer there.

I think he was more referring to the idea of meeting up for a brewery/pub before the event on the day of. I see no issue with a Friday night bottle share as well, just have to reset the palate in the morning (and not get super wastey face on Friday  )
