Anyone know why craft breweries are starting to put their beer in cans?

Not sure but the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is much cheaper in the 12 pack, based on the price I will buy cans.

I have yet to see a canned beer cheaper than bottled here in Ohio.

Strange.....cans and bottles run the same price in AZ.

I dont see canned craft beer too often but 12 packs of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in Tulsa were about $12.00 last time I checked.

Cans are a really nice package. Bottles are great for homebrewers to reuse, but they often end up in the trash/recycling. Aluminum cans are easy to compress for space, as well as being very easy and efficient to recycle. I'm glad to see more offerings in cans.

cans are more economically and environmentally friendly, more durable and easier for transport as well. i think they work really well with certain styles too...IPAs i've noticed have turned out really well in cans. i drank jai alai in bottles for years and feel with CCB transferred to cans nothing was lost at all. and HT is (to my southern knowledge) exclusively in cans as well. if they can keep up the quality like i've seen so far, i say go for it for all flagships.

Can someone just link to a thread from like three years ago here, or to the can article from BA mag last year?

Since Jai Alai has been canned I swear it's been fresher and better than ever.

I dunno. I remember it being pretty damn good in bottles, and I've always had Jai Alai extremely fresh, thanks to the high demand.

Used to sit on the shelf down here, in bottles.
Had it once and though "meh...", had to be old.

Well it seemed to have pretty high demand here in Miami when I first started drinking it, though the switch to cans did coincide with a huge spike in demand (where it has now become hard to actually find at most stores.) Now it's almost impossible to actually find anything not brewed in the past month.

They are defiantly not more environmentally friendly. Bauxite mining is terrible for the environment.

I like seeing both options, but I hate how some beer companies are pushing cans down our throat like it is an amazing innovation of modern technology. At the end of the day is the product inside the can or bottle good?
