Good morning sergeants of Saison and lieutenants of lager! I hope this message finds you ready for another Sunday of all things good, fermented, and hoppy in your tulips, snifters, and nonics today.

Weather in Central OH is very August-like although the humidity isn't too bad. Should be a scorcher for my son's first flag football game of the season this afternoon. It must be that time of year as all things pumpkin and O-fest are taking up a lot of shelf space in the local bottle shops. I have a hard time sampling those until the temps at least drop into the 70's and I start seeing some football on the flatscreen. Regardless, if you like craft beer this time of year gives you some fantastic selection.

Lots of buzz in Ohio this week as New Belgium plans on distributing here by year's end. As with other larger brewers deemed "craft" they tend to have some mixed reviews about their flagship beer but I'm personally STOKED they will be here. It can't be bad to have more access to better beer choices.

Enough rambling, today is the day and this is the thread to TRY a new beer and SHARE it here. At minimum, a good description is kindly requested. Linked reviews, pics, music, and any other multi-media wizardry is always fun and only adds to the content and rich history that is NBS. Thanks for keeping New Beer Sunday fresh, informative, and fun. Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    Happy New Beer Sunday

Our weather is slowly turning to fall but I am hoping for a nice Indian summer. I find myself thinking of digging out my blankets, putting away fans and changing over closets. I am getting all my favorite baking recipes ready as I love to cook in the winter time.

As promised I have another stout for today. This time it's Southern Tier's Creme Brulee. Now I admit that when I first tasted this I didn't know what to think. I even claimed I would not be able to finish it. But here we are at almost noon and I sure can finish it. In fact it grew on me. I like it more towards the recommended temperature of 42 degrees. As much as it did grow on me I would not raise my rating any. It would go really well with vanilla ice cream like so many have said.

    Cheers!

New American IPA Sunday (week 444)

Beautiful day here on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY. Started New Beer Sunday early this week, just past midnight, with this delicious brew (bottle far left) courtesy of one of our regulars, who sent me a porch rocking box of beer as one of the kindest and most generous gestures. Really delicious, kinda wishing I hadn't finished the bomber early this morning. Guess I will just have to crack one of these other ones. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Greetings fellow NBSers! A bright, sunny morning here in the Fourth Corner, looks like it's gonna be a beauty of a day! I help out part-time at one of my local brewpubs, and yesterday was the local rugby teams annual fund raising luau in their beer garden. I did my set-up stuff, then went to work my regular job. I went back after midnight to tear-down and said fuck it, I'll get it in the morning. So, I've got a couple hours in already today, which will entitle me to a shift beer and meal later. Yeah cheap food and beer!

My local pub where I usually score a few NBS brews only seems to have a couple newbies today, and I started with this SoCal brew: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/199/38860/?ba=beertunes

    NEW BARLEYWINE SUNDAY.

Happy NBS everyone! Perfect summer day in Akron PA today. Sunny and warm but not sweltering. We took the little guy to the park to try the swings this morning, but he seems to prefer aerobatics wirh his dad. The swings may have just been too tame.

Now while he is napping I get to enjoy a new b-wine while rereading some classic sci-fi. I have my chair carefully aligned so I don't accindentaly see some yard work that needs done. Its too nice to work outside today.

Yes, another IPA, hard to believe after drinking 11,396,411 different IPA over the last 20 years I still find this is the style that floats my boat. Another delicious one courtesy of serious generosity detailed above. Halfway through it just gets more and more delicious. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Pretty nice beer. I'm always impressed when a brewer can take American hops and dark malt and NOT turn it into a mess. To me, chocolate and citrus just don't work. However, in this beer, they are both distinct and present and well done together. A winner on a warm summer day!

Happy New CHInese and CHIcago CANned Beer Sunday!
I was feeling rather chi-chi when I awoke this morning, following an odd day on the CANpaign trail yesterday. I spent two hours on the city's square with a signboard proclaiming my mayoral CANdidacy, ringing a triangle and passing out CANpaign buttons. It was wild, watching some really great cars go by and interacting with anyone who approached me. I am now "The Silenced CANdidate Who Will Not Shut Up!" If anyone would like a CANpaign button, let me know. I should have plenty, but CANstituents take priority. I then took a battle nap and headed to the Belvedere Inn, a gay-friendly upscale establishment, where I pressed the flesh (although my flesh was not pressed as The Old Lady might disapprove) and somehow misplaced my debit card. Grrr! I had to rush home and canx the daggone thing and that cost me valuable time as I also wanted to hit the Tally Ho!, another gay Lancaster establishment, but time was running through the hourglass. I opted, instead, to make the Sundown Lounge, which is our lesbian headquarters, and I ran into a number of fellow teachers, all of whom are supportive of my mayoral efforts. If nothing else, my CANpaign has been a blast thus far.
I awoke like Patrick McGoohan at the beginning of every episode of "The Prisoner", CANfused and disoriented. When I hied out of the rack and looked out the window, I realized that I was in the Orient! China, specifically, and Momma China, an exotic dancer from south of Pittsburgh who I met in Puerto Rico in 1993, was by my side. She was a poster child for feminine pulchritude and covered in tattoos long before such was in vogue. The first time that I saw her and her fellow Pittsburgher, Cinnamon, dance was the night I rolled in dressed in full-on Pirates gear. The two of them dragged me up on stage, stripped me down and had me dance with them. Back then, I was a buff young man with no scruples or morals, but now, at close to 170 #s, I am not sure that it would be a sight to behold.
I reached into the nearby refrigerator in our Shanghai hotel room and pulled out some wheat:
but this made China feel blue, so I bought her a diamond to cheer her up:
and when that didn't work, we went to the spa to sit in some ice and purify ourselves:
We then laid back down and I fell asleep in the afterglow, awakening to find myself in Chicago's Union Station, but neither Momma China nor The Old Lady were anywhere in sight! I hopped on Metra westbound and through a series of stops and transfers, I was in Warrenville, sitting down with the Ebel brothers:
I was not as impressed with them the way that I usually am, so it was back to CHI-town for this kid. I hopped the Blue Line to California-O'Hare and then walked the couple/few blocks that put me in the heart of the Revolution, where I sat down, raised my left fist in support and heard a fellow revolutionary cry out, "Bottoms Up, Brother!":
I felt right at home when Eugene walked over, holding a keg aloft before he sat down next to me and began postulating the best way to foment the coming Revolution:
and then El General, AKA Anti-Hero, came over in his full dress uniform, including epaulets, to join us as backup paratroopers fell from the sky:

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22072/55862/?ba=woodychandler

I limped home following our encounter and I am now on the verge of a break. I may or may not rejoin you later.

    Happy New Wheat Beer Sunday!

Greetings to the NBS group from the Jersey Shore. Here's today's weather in a word or two: Paradise-like!
It's been a beautiful past 3 days around here, really great Summer weather.

    Music provided by Big Star.....

It's hard to believe that Big Star never had a hit single. Although this tune gained some recognition when Cheap Trick remade it as the theme song for 'That 70s Show'.

    All the best everyone, Cheers!

First off, happy Sunday everyone! Let's enjoy the rest of this day before we are all forced to face that dreaded experience known as Monday.

To start my NBS, I went with a local beer that I've seen and been intrigued by but yet to try. It was by no means great, but certainly good and worth a try:

    New Am. IPA Sunday

    Greeting NBSer's,
Rather warm in SCMN and I'm choosing to limit my time outdoors in order to prevent turning into the sweatball if any effort what so ever is put into any movement or any activity. It's actually okay weather to sit outside - August is nice with the slightly lower sun, a little more shade and early evenings. So, UtopiaJane, don't change over quite yet, cool weather has not made a long-term appearance yet. It's just fooling ya'.
Entry today is a "one-off" from one of our 2 local regional breweries. I'm getting this just as it is being pulled off the shelves to make way for the next "one-off" of the same style. Summit loves making hop based beers.
I think this one is suppose to be good for me cuz' it is organic. Regardless if it is, or not, it's a perfectly fine everyday drinking beer with lower alcohol and a firm malt base. Highly drinkable.

New American Saison Sunday (week 444)

Lovely day beginning to end. I feel like woodychandler with multiple new beers, two of them CANS, today. Yet another bit of PNW goodness. I would move to PNW if not for ties to this area, the beer there is just so abundantly great. I call it beer paradise in correspondence, and it isn't exaggeration. The kind BA who sent this certainly knows how lucky he is.

About to finish the last sip of this saison that comes in a can (how great is that!?). Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

Although, Mr. L. X. Chittlins, did have another band that had a pretty solid hit with this kickass tune. Yeah, they're lipsyncing, you know they're lipsynching, and we all love this 2minute hit of 60's pop goodness:
