While not having many "new" brews today, I had the same editorial issues with my last post. I walked over to another local brewery, where I saw a couple friends, and beers were bought. They had 1 new brew on, after I finish this water, I'm going in!

    New English Brown Ale

Another beautiful day in West MI. Temps topped out in the low 90s with blue skies and a gentle breeze. Perfect for book ending summer vacation with baseball. I love that I can choose between New Holland, Bell's, Mt. Pleasant and many others at the local ballpark. This sessionable brown ale from The Mitten did the job.

    >>>>>> New 'Beer' Sunday <<<<<<

And I use the term 'beer' advisedly. Checking in with another dubious brew from the ShockTop family. Honeycrisp Apple Wheat. It's not terrible, a good thirst quencher on a hot day.

But it's overly sweet, probably competing with the apple ale and alco-pop market I suppose.

I've been working on home brewing this weekend. My annual goal is for a batch a month. I lost a batch of Bavarian style hefe to an equipment malfunction in July, so I had to regroup and re-brew that one on Friday. Today was the August pale ale, and on Labor Day it will be the September batch, either a vanilla or pumpkin porter to put me back on schedule. Then it's a stout, a milk stout and something TBD, probably a porter, in hopes of "wrapping up" the home brew year on December 1st (punn intended), and put the brewing equipment away for the holidays.

Seasonal here today, after a rain shower last night we are sunny with temps in the mid-980's.

    Until next Labor Day weekend,

    Happy Trails!

New American Black Ale Sunday (week 444)

Day has progressed to night, and some recently deprived celebrate their freedom, and enjoy the beauty that is the artistry of American beer. I present for your approval Back In Black, a beer that suffers by comparison but rocks on its own terms. A beer that tries to do too much, attack and please, and isn't that we all want at the end of the day? To have our enjoyments attack us and please us? Admittedly I am more of a 21A fan than many friends, and their hop bills are in my sweet spot, so my recommendation for this one neds beeeee evealuttated accordionly.

Knocking out 4 off the top 250 list. Also tried Bourbon County Coffee yesterday at the Midwest Brewers Fest. All good so far.

Thanks to a generous BA, jzeilinger, I am finally able to try FFF Zombie Dust...

So tonight, I fired up the grill and put on a couple of nice tenderloins, and cracked open this baby...

I thoroughly enjoyed it as you can see from the review.

    Cheers!

    New Red Sunday
    ^^1881 by Ruhstaller^^

Well, I've been mad pirated out for the last couple of days (don't ask), including wasting the last couple days of school break playing a pirate-themed RPG. FUN (and SO COOL guyz...)
The burlap around the top of this bottle made me think pirate-y. So I thought I'd try to write my review as pirate-y as possible. I got as far as taste before I realized that that was fucking stupid, and my writing talent is not up for the task, so I went back to boring old standard descriptors. Highlight: "features a head softer than kind thighs in a foreign port."
Yeah, you can see why I scrapped that plan. Decent red, but I don't really get into red's like that (Felicia Day, on the other hand...), so probably won't pick it up again.
Classes start back up again tomorrow, so I'm not really looking forward to that :/
    Oh well. Cheers all!!

Hope you all enjoyed your day as much as I did. Thanks for another fun NBS, cheers!

Had to crack another new brew for tonight's Breaking Bad, went with Stone's 17th Anniversary. I like this one and it is growing on me, but it's not their best of late. Still, a very good beer worth trying:

Cheers y'all! Maybe I will be back with more later...
