No they won't. They'll fill their own or any unlabeled or non-brewery growler that is brown. Dunno what's on tap at the moment. Also I hope you know they are closed on Mondays.

So... I can tape a white piece of paper over the old brewery Label?
Oh, I have a whole foods One?

I dunno, do you have a whole foods one?

And, well, it's up to them if they'll fill the growler with a piece of paper taped on it. I'm going to say no, but they won't like murder you if try it. They'll just say no.

edit: It's threads like these where I'm so glad my wife lets us collect growlers.

Crap, thougt I had a whole foods One, I don't. I taped a white piece of paper over the old one and wrote tired hands. lol

Thanks for the info, hopefully it will work... it is a swing top quart Growler that has a few sticker labels on it, it has made the rounds.

    When are you heading there?

As far as things on tap, the easiest suggestion I can make is just get 4oz glasses, 2 at a time, and try them all. They don't do flights, but that's pretty much the equivalent.

Just went there Saturday, fantastic place. I had a 64oz capable growler with another brewerys label on it. With some warm water and a knife it came off pretty easy. I did see them reject growlers because it wasn't plain or from them.

So they are turning down sales because of wanting self promotion, not good.
Iron Hill did or still might do that and many people go elsewhere. Iron Hill would take your not labeled Iron Hill growler and fill one in their Growler. Wrong move.
If you collect them that is just bad customer service or if you have 15 Growlers and don't need another just arrogance IMHO..

You can do this, or masking tape.

They're turning down sales because it's the law. It's the same for Iron Hill as it is Tired Hands.

I love how people post without knowing anything, thinking they know everything. My eyes basically rolled out of my head when I read that.

Can we just pin this topic to the top of the Mid-Atlantic forum so everyone who asks can just look there? It should be their "cover photo" on their Facebook page..."we only fill our growlers and brewery non-specific growlers!"... for the number of people that ask there as well.

Its actually not the law. Just so you know. The Law is that the contents of said growler must be labeled and identified. Not that a brewery has to fill its own labeled growlers.

Most places just stick a piece of tape with the name of the beer the growler is filled with. I'm not sure if the hanging labels that TH uses plays a factor in this.

Khunhenns and a lot of other places have their own sticker they slap over the Growler label, so it magically becomes their labeled Growler... Doesn't seem to hard to me.

Interesting. It's been expressed a number of times by people I'd imagine would know, that it's the law. Otherwise, yeah, you'd think a simple hangtag identifying the brewery and the beer within would be sufficient.

I've brought Hill Farmstead growlers where I'd used silver duck tape to cover the screening, and it wasn't a huge deal. They didn't seem to be happy later on, however, when pictures of those growlers, sans tape, showed up online with the individual declaring Tired Hands beer in a Hill Farmstead growler.

Regardles...I think anyone that's going to be going to TH with any kind of regularity can spring $5-$15 on some glassware. Or even go to Whole Foods and get the generic growlers that say "beer" on them. THey're only $3. I know it sucks having a ton of growlers at home you can't use but...I eventually put them in the recycling bin

Anyone know what type growlers TH sells? (swing top/plastic cap?) sizes? thanks in advance.

I will be visiting Tired Hands in a few weeks for the first time, so looking forward to this. Will be there on or around Sept. 14th, if any locals want any Cigar City for an IP trade let me know.

    Cheers people!

in fairness to those asking, this spring I filled 2 growlers at 2 PA breweries with non PA brewery branded growlers. said growlers had no tape or label covering the brewery name nor did the breweries who filled these growlers put any kind of tag or other identifying object on them...
