When does price become a factor for you?

I'm a hop man and I have never had hop slam, never will as long as it costs 20 a six. Not even interested. Same goes for sculping.

 

You're a captive audience at airports, stadiums, resorts, etc. I've never found a price too high to go without a drink or two.

 

I dunno. I dropped $9 per SNPA at the Garden a few weeks ago. Actually, I'd prefer not to think about that

 

Bois was a bit much at $28/750... but then again, I got the Elijah Craig 12 Eclipse for $30, so don't look at me.

 

That only happens to me with AALs. At sporting events, or whatever, there is not a chance in hell I'm paying $8 for 16oz BMC pee water.

That's why I either drink before I go to them, or simply not at all.

Fortunately enough, when I go to Pirates games, there is a pretty decent beer selection. I can get a Hop Devil draft for $9. Totally worth it, especially considering that a bud light is going to cost only a $1 or two less.

 

When I have no money for food, school books, etc.

 

It's happened to me. I was at a concert with 12 dollar Bud Light tall boys. I don't mind getting smashed off crappy beer but not at that price. I stayed sober.

 

It will always cost more; whether it's a sporting event, concert, etc. If I'm having a great time, I might just go ahead and buy a beer. It's more fun to drink beer with friends at an event.

 

$20 for a six of a good beer isn't a bad deal, when you figure that in a dive bar you will pay that or more for 6 Miller Lites. Don't even get me started with Stadium prices...at Hienz field a Yuengling Lager will run you $9/draft. I'll buy one or two to get us through the game but would rather spend that cash on a six pack or growler of a nice craft brew.

 

anything past $15 a bomber, $20 a pack, or $6 a glass is too damn much. If I find that one that I just have to fucking try I might, like right now I'm finding it really hard to refrain from spending $17 for a 375ml of La Trappe Quad Barrel Aged.

 

When I have more important bills to pay, I start to consider price.

 

When the name "Mikkeller" is on the label. Been suckered in and disappointed too many times.

 

Last show I went to I bought 6 24oz Modelos at 11$ each. I didn't go to not drink beer. If I want a beer, I'm gonna pay whatever to get it. But I'm also not a poor college kid anymore. (Don't know if you are or not) that's just the point in my life that I'm at. My mortgage is paid, and my retirement is bumping, so fuck it. And the person above who won't buy Hopslam bc it's 20$ a 6 has obviously never tasted it. I'd pay 30+.

Paying premium price at concert/sporting venues sucks but that's life. Somebody once told me the prices are so high to avoid people becoming to intoxicated, while that sounds noble I doubt it to be true

 

A while back some buddies and I met up to see Anthrax. Somebody picked up my food before the show, so I thought I would grab a round for everybody. Seven PBR tall boys ran me $76. I wasn't happy about it, but I'm sure I would do it again. The beer isn't craft, but a crappy beer with your friends is about as good as a great beer by yourself.

 

And I thought $9 for Surly was a lot...

 

When I don't have enough money to buy what I want.

 

Price becomes a factor when some upstart brewery bottles an IPA and expects me to buy it when it's at a higher price point then, Torpedo, Maximus, Union Jack, Stone IPA, even higher than Sculpin or PtE. Needless to say, I pass on most new breweries bottled offerings.
