Are you saying I should put an IPA in my beer fridge for 5 months and it will be just as good as if I went and got one at the tasting room? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not because you suck.

Coming from a brewery which was made popular by one specific imperial stout...

    He's being sarcastic.
Most BAs recognize the value of consuming IPAs fresh, and RIS's aged.
I see what gunhaver did, responded to your post on the subject of buying an IPA, suggesting you held other styles to the same standard.
I can see where he's coming from though, you come off like a bit of a braggart. "Meh, white oak jai alai is common" "IPAs don't get me excited".
He probably imagines you as some punk kid who has yet to cut his teeth on a good lager, and is currently obsessed with the biggest and boldest stouts only.
An unfair assumption, but there it is.

However, I must note, there is a genuine lack of excitement for this beer. With Zhukov making it's second round, and the recent release of a Mikeller collaboration, coupled with the sessionability (is that even a word?) of Last Spike, it makes sense.

But it is common in tampa... And what if ipas are not your favorite style??? I'm not one to get excited about a brown ale, Can i say that without being a braggart?

    You sure can:
"It's common in the tasting room, so it doesn't really excite me."
The seemingly innocuous "meh" sets the whole tone.

If I could get huna everyday in the tasting room I prob wouldn't be excited to drink that anymore either...

Sure, just don't put a "meh" in front when you tell people otherwise you come off as a braggart.

When I saw Zhukov in the fridge, and spike next to it... I couldn't help but grab more Zhukov. That isn't so much a knock on Last Spike, as it might be excellent, as it shows how good Zhukov is and how tough its been to find up until now. Get it when you can!

Zhukov still in the fridge? Anything else? Have a buddy swinging by in the next few minutes.

I wouldn't say common. It's made 3 times a year, and doesn't last long on the shelf when it is released. Outside of the Tampa area, most places don't get a lot of it. It's hardly a year round ir common beer.

i'm saying literally the exact opposite: drink everything fresh, and do not age anything.

I base everything I say in a CCB thread around the idea that I live in the Tampa area. With that said - I see white oak jai alai in the tasting room more than I do on the shelf. In fact I think it was just on tap 2-3 weeks ago. So to me if I was going to get one and given the choice I'd choose the path of least resistance (common vs. uncommon) and freshest (tasting room).

Hell, we can even use the beer this thread is about as an example. The Last Spike has been on tap all week in the tasting room. Why would I go to the tasting room to pick up a beer to store away when I can drink it fresh out of a keg? If it was a stout then this argument would be pointless but IPA is different for reasons you obviously already know.

But then you're agreeing with me. I should drink it there and not bother buying a bottle to put away. Thank you! The only reason I age stouts (I use that loosely) is because I don't have the time in the day to drink them all. So if I cannot put it away then I pretty much won't buy a large bottle of it.

Not for everyone, but if I can but a case of it 3-4 times a year that's pretty common for me.

Last Spike is still around due to a what I like to refer to as, "broken wallet" phenomenon that has been seen recently around all the bad-ass releases CCB has put out.
