Hi all, I have Northern Brewer's Caribou Slobber in primary right now. I also have NB's Smashing Pumpkin that I will make once this is ready to bottle since I only have one primary fermentor. I am currently in talks on Craigslist to buy two 6gal ported Better Bottles and my temp controller should arrive next week, so I wanted to start ramping up my brewing. What kits have you tried and would recommend? Open to all styles and companies! I was thinking NB's Peated Porter..
since I'm kinda the token "smash guy" around here, I vote for http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/brewing/recipe-kits/smash-american-session-ale.html if anything, just out of curiosity to see how it comes out! also, has anyone tried danstar Munich dry yeast? for some reason, I'm in a hefe mood today, so perhaps this one http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/brewing/recipe-kits/bavarian-hefe-weizen-extract-kit.html
I've brewed two kits from NB. They were all-grain kits, and I doctored them up a bit, but that's just who I am. There's nothing wrong with the kits: http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/emma-s-ale-extract-kit-w-specialty-grains.html http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/patersbier-extract-kit.html I'll add that I suspect most if not all of their kits make good beer - well, technically you have to make it, with the help of the yeast. Still, peated porter and smashing pumpkin sounds a bit scary to my tastes. Bottom line: get a kit that sounds like it will make what you think you want to drink

I've got NB's synchronicity extrodinare on draft right now and it's pretty good. I added all of the lemongrass instead of the 3/4 oz that the recipe called for and at first it was a little overpowering but now after a couple weeks it's perfect. I have also brewed their patersbier in the past and really enjoyed it.
I brewed the Petite Saison, Surly Furious clone, and the Kiwi Express. All were pretty good with Kiwi being my least favorite, but still a decent beer.
Try the Petite Ala Orange its a great kit and one of the few that I have brewed twice. (because it was that good)
I brewed this one when these guys opened a little while ago and it was one of the best IPA's I ever had. http://www.valuebrew.com/collections/home-page-featured/products/hop-aholic-double-ipa-extract-kit If an IPA is what you are looking for.
