Good morning laborers of lambic and workers of witbier! I hope this message finds you ready for another Sunday of all things good, fermented, malty or hoppy in your chalices, flutes, and mugs today.

Weather in Central OH is hot and humid. I think we are getting paid back for the relatively cool August we had. Lately I feel like a hammer and everything is looking like a nail. So many good choices flooding the market around here. Hoping to tackle something from Revolution or Jackie O's today. We shall see as the fam will be headed to my mother-in-laws today for a Labor Day cookout.

Regardless of what's happening in your world I hope you have some time to relax and try a new beer today. We would like you to SHARE your findings here. Please try something new and TELL us about it. A good description is kindly requested but feel free to embellish with a linked review, pics, and any other trimmings you feel are appropriate to share in this virtual pub. Please DON'T just tell us what you had or share a pic without a good description. That's what sets NBS apart from other threads so we can continue on for another 445+ weeks.

I hope you all have a great long holiday weekend. Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

Well thanks Matt for an awesome thread and let me start by wishing you all a Happy new Beer Sunday.

This week I tried a new gadget. I got rid of my expensive cable tv which I though I had to have because I have an old television set. Bought this new fangled little thing called a roku player and now I have tv to my analog set for a mere fraction of what I was paying to the cable company. I feel so modern, so accomplished.

The weather is back to summer here in upstate new york and that is fine by me. I like it when I can walk around and not have negotiate snow and ice in my travels. The leaves started falling early this year in my opinion and no matter how long this small Indian summer lasts I think the winter is going to be a complete upstate new york experience this year with a variety of precipitation and plenty of raw cold.

Today I chose another stout. I promised stouts for as many as I could find today it's Uinta Labyrinth. I liked it as it wasn't too terribly sweet and that is a nice change. It also has a tremendous abv and comes in a huge 750ml bottle. Slowly, slowly. Cheers everyone!

Happy New Beer Sunday to all. Double rookie here. First to post here and my first ever review (I hope I'm doing this correctly). I'm checking in from the Great White North, just outside of Vancouver, BC. We've enjoyed an amazing summer where we went 32 days without rain in July/early August. We had a slightly cooler mid August, but we're back to beautiful warm sun (temps in the upper 70's/low 80's) and cooler evenings.

I'm not even sure I have the style correct, but oh well, here it goes.

These are the specs I pulled from the bottle:

A prisitine hop forward ale with a golden twist. Our Immaculate India Golden Ale is designed to celebrate two of our favourite things, hop forward beers and perfect summer weather. This wonderful brew is just like the golden days of summer: it's easy to enjoy and has lots to offer.

    Tech Specs and Random Info

Ingredients: Water, malted barley, white wheat, hops, yeast, orange peel

Malts: 2 Row, Belgian Aromatic, Cara 8, Pale, White Wheat

    Hops: Cascade, Centennial, Zythos

    IBUs: 50

    ABV: 6.5%

    First batch: July 2013

A - Pours a nice golden amber colour (almost lager like, but with a bit darker hue), with about a thumb of head which really wants to stick around.

S - Bready, some orange (from the peel) and hops, but not overpowering

T - Much like the nose, with orange rind, some citrus bitterness, a bit sweeter on the finish, and the alcohol lets you know it's there, but it's subtle. This is good; this would pair well with something spicy like fish tacos and spicy slaw or an Indian curry.

M - Lighter bodied, smooth and slightly bitter on the finish.

O - A very solid seasonal from Dead Frog with lots of flavour and a nice punch of hop forward bitterness. I'd buy this again.

    Serving type: 650 mL bottle

    Serving type: bottle

Welcome, and well done! That looks like a mighty fine beer. What an odd brand name, "Dead Frog."

    NEW BARLEYWINE SUNDAY

Happy sticky NBS from Lancaster county not city. Sorry Woody I'd vote for you if I could. Got some sweaty yard work done this morning and now its time to relax with the paper while the little guy naps.

I enjoyed my new beer late last night into the early morning. Despite working almost 28 hours between friday and saturday I just couldn't fall asleep. I finally gave up around 11. So I popped the cork on a big 'ol barleywine and rewatched A Clockwork Orange.

    New Berliner Weissbier Sunday

    Greetings NBSer's,

Last night finished off our heat streak with a line of storms giving my rain gauge a meek 1/4 inch of rain. Cool crisp air (relatively, it is still summer) and bright blue skies today. Quite nice really and a good way to end the summer season.
Another good way to end this summer session of NBS is with a classic German summer beer. No flavorings for me, but maybe later with some friends and anther bottle. But for today I'm taking it straight and at 3.5% abv it should offer no hindrance to any sort of functioning I am required to do today. I believe they are coming out with additional versions of this later with some additional flavors added. I'm looking forward to that.
    Refreshing.

I really tried to like this one as I love most of Revolution's offerings however, I struggled with this one a bit.

I think some age would do it some good.

Not a bad beer but too many other good ones out there for me to revisit again.

    Happy NBS and cheers!!

Happy New Boring Beer Sunday. I wanted to try a different style, but this brewery is known for boring beers and they did not disappoint! I'm not sure I really know what this style should be like after drinking this beer. I'll have to try another from a different brewery. It was easy to drink on this warm and very humid day, but it just wasn't exciting.

I also would like to thank all the men and women that serve this great country of ours and allow us the opportunity to spend our time talking about beer. Thank you!

Greetings fellow NBSers! A beautiful warm, sunny day here in the Fourth Corner. A light breeze is keeping things nicely comfortable. When I lived in Upstate NY, Labor Day weekend was always a big deal, because one of my favorite auto races of the year is run. The Oswego Classic features the Supermodifieds running their longest race of the year, 200 laps around The Big O's super fast 5/8-mile track. The cars I grew watching, the Modifieds, had their own 200 lapper on Saturday night, and my friends and I camped out from Thursday-Monday, and many beers were consumed.

My first new brew of the day is from a highly thought of brewery on the beach along the Oregon coast: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1304/98835

    New Berliner Weissbier Sunday !!!

Greetings and Happy September to the NBS group from a muggy and partly cloudy Jersey Shore.
It's been another great week around here, I wish the same for you.
My 'go to' shop (or 'liquor store", as we call them here in NJ) put out some Bruery releases this week. After I overcame the sticker shock I settled on this: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16866/43889/?ba=NiceTaps. Not bad, especially with today's weather conditions, there's even a light rain shower just beginning.

That was a well deserved beer break after spending a few hours on the computer involved in volunteer work.

It's nice to see some early activity on NBS today, more power to you!

    Cheers, everyone!

New barley wine Sunday. Or maybe it's new pumpkin beer Sunday????

Its hot here in southern florida, just as it is everyday. I am daydreaming about the first 24 years of my life that were spent up north and how the seasons are about to change. So in jealous anticipation, Almanac heirloom pumpkin barley wine was my drink of choice today.

    Happy Labourr Flavourr Day Weekend!!

    {}R&R Coconut IPA by Stone in conjunction with Robert & Ryan and Rip Current{}

'Allo all!! What a week... classes starrted back up, and, well, things should be interresting this semesterr. We get to delve morre fully into ourr clinical experriences, both in the hospital and in doing home visits. I'm excited to worrk with some of the rrefugee orrganizations herre in StL as parrt of my Public Health clinical. We'll have way MORrE classes this semesterr, but it looks like they won't be nearrly as hectic or crrazy as July was. The intrro video for ourr Public Health class was even prroduced in Washington state (my home home), and featurred/interrviewed some nurrses from the San Juan Islands wherre I grrew up!!!! I got superr excited at that point and prrobably made an ass of myself, but whatevs. I've long since given up on trrying to be cool and imprress people: besides I'm only going to be herre in the midwest for 9 morre months anyway (not including thanksgiving, winterr and sprring brreaks).
I just learrned last night that one of my best frriends frrom underrgrrad is studying in the Netherrlands for law school. My little brrother studied abrroad therre in HS (we arre of Dutch herritage), so I got superr excited and she's been asking me forr advice about being overr therre. I wish I could go visit herr, but sadly don't see it happening (*shakes fist at the sky* finances!!!). She rreminded me that ourr five yearr rreunion (underrgrrad) is this coming May. Holy shit that snuck up on me. It's rright afterr I grraduate my nurrsing prrogrram, so I'm torrn: I won't have a job, but it might be a good grraduation celebrration kind of thing. The prroblem is that not having a job, I will still be verry brroke. This effects my ability to GET to the rreunion, and on top of it, it would mean I get to go hang out with all my superr-successful classmates who've spent the last five yearrs earrning 6 figurres and building carrrreerrs, while I'll still be unemployed and brroke. BUT! It may be one of the few chances I'll have to see a bunch of people I carre dearrly about, and almost definitely one of the only chances to see multiple of them all at once and all the associated shenanigans that I know we will get into.

Anyway, I tend to get too into my perrsonal life herre on NBS. Nobody likes to listen to someone rramble on about theirr shit, even less so when it's a complete strranger (y'all arre all my perrsonal barrtenderr and I'm the sterreotypical pathetic barr patrron!), so thanks forr putting up with an extrra half a scrreen of text.

Soo... beerr. R&R is a decent IPA, as Stone is wont to do. Not nearrly the coconut I was prromised/hoping forr, but I am in a forrgiving mood. Maybe it's because I haven't eaten anything all day and am drrinking 22 oz of 7.7, maybe it's because I still have tomorrrrow of school thanks to labourr day (That phoney-baloney holiday crrammed down ourr thrroats by fat-cat union gangsterrs? Hot damn! A day off!), maybe my sisterr is rright, and I'm actually starting to fin some measurre of peace and happiness orr some shit. Whatever the case may be, things arre ok. It was thunderr and rrain all last night, but the sun is out today. I don't know that I'll necessarily take advantage of that (my bike seat is wet! it's still too muggy! I like my cave of an aparrtment!).

Hopefully y'll arre getting rready forr that zenith of human experriences tomorrrrow: a barrbecue. I think I'll make some green curry chicken forr dinnerr and keep drrinking, then go get Humphrreys/Bogarrts for tomorrrrow.

    Cheerrs all!!
