Hats off to Frozenmoses for this 2nd box. Keep in mind this was for the Locals BIF (a Growler, glass from said brewery, and other GOOD Beer (88 oz or more)) Unfortunately his first box, which weighed 46 lbs according to the fedex tracking number, got lost in transit. After waiting some time while we tried to locate it via FedEx trace and debating if we should let them know that there was alcohol in the box he decided to send me this 2nd box as a replacement. Who knows where the first box is! 1x Growler of Live Oak HefeWeizen 2x Southern Star Le Mort Vivant 2x Southern Star Buried Hatchet Stout 2x Karbach Rodeo Clown 1x Squatters Outer Darkness 1x Real Ale Real Ale 2011 (Extras due to delays) 1x Blacknote 1x Cantillon Lou Pepe - Kriek I would have been fine with the box even without the extras. Frozenmoses went over and beyond with great communication during the delays and included these ridiculous extras for something that can happen to any one of us. Once again my hat is off to this great trader! Cheers
yeah i think this box was 30.4 lbs according to the tracking which means he sent out 76 lbs of brew for this BIF! (unfortunately 46 lbs is missing , FedEx employees probably drank it) oh btw, the reason why FedEx thinks the package is lost is because the label peeled off. So as a heads up always tape your labels down especially if using those clear label holders. Some people even write the tracking number on the box or put another printed label inside the box just in case the outside label peels off. From my understanding if the label comes off fedex will open the box to research what is inside and wait for a claim. If you put another copy in the box that solves the problem right there. I personally use a thermal printer and tape the labels down still. Either way i'm still very impressed with how Frozenmoses dealt with this mishap.
That is awesome and I hope this experience doesn't make "him" too down about trading. Looks like he did more than amazing getting a second box out though so kudos and good beer karma! What's up with the clear growler though Abita?
His note said that it is Live Oak HefeWeizen http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/383/1062. Texas must allow people to reuse growlers. I'm excited to try this tasty brew.
I have quite a few clear growlers: East End, Long Valley, Magic Hat geez, that is all I can remember right now
The whole point of a growler is to drink the beer fresh. I doubt light would be any worry for the time frames we're talking about when it gets filled and then drank.
You nailed it. Any of these steps takes an extra 30 seconds max, but potentially could save the shipper from a huge expensive headache. Awesome box of beer as a replacement! That's how it's done.
