It was $25 at the liquor store next to my apartment, which might explain its shelf turd status. So you're telling me that BA Gumballhead was no-go?

Heard it was out of this world! lol

Like I said, if it's sour, you're better off elsewhere...

I'm sure one day they'll figure out how to make a sour that's decent.

I do agree they really make the locals pay a lot for failed experiments.

I think it would be safe to assume that the apartment was not in Texas.

I figured as much. A man can dream, right? Although, I have a Behemoth aging right now, and there should be some other FFF in the mail from a friend in Indiana soon, so I'll have my fix soon enough.

If there is any Dark Lord in that box, make sure to keep it away from jamescain. I think he would really smash it!

And by the way, this is the SW forum, there is no dreaming allowed here. Only hoardings, bitching and being an asshole. ;-)

If it's a beer that they'll make again I don't see the fuss about not trying it the first time.

It's not about trying it first, is about what you can get for it in trade!

My thoughts on the Reserve Society...I think it would be great to have JK have a reserve society. Structure it like Cigar City did. Texas residents only for a set period of time, after that, open it up to out of state people. If they produce a beer that won't have enough bottles for everyone in the RS to get one, just make it available at the brewery for RS members only for on-sight consumption. The Bruery has RS only beers on draft at their tap room.

For the Stawberry beer with 400 bottles, I agree with just making it available for on-site consumption only or just do the old fashion line-up. If trying the beer or getting a bottle is important to you, you'll be there. Doing a lottery seems overly complicated for a small 400 bottle release. If you can't make the release day, then you just miss that beer, it's not the end of the world.

Oh! Lame. So the mindset is "I'll buy a 'rare' beer to get another 'rare' beer in exchange?" That kind of annoys me. Be happy with what you have. I get it and all but still people need to stop being brats. Not calling out anybody in particular or anything though. Whatever makes you happy I guess. Doesn't affect me.

I would like to see it like Cigar City in another way. When there is a beer that won't even go far enough for the society, you have online signup for the bottles that are first come first serve and only for members. If any remains, then it hits general population.

I missed out on 110K+OT 6 because I was too late (less bottles than members). I lived. :grinning:

I'm glad it annoys you, I wish it annoyed everyone. The "I can trade X for walez" mentality is running rampant on BA and especially in the SW forum of late. I wish I knew how to stop it but many of the people who do it are so proud of the fact..... they post/brag about it! I don't know if this all started when Ebay cracked down or when the BA site crashed but either way, it sucks to watch it happen over and over and over.

    End rant.........

    Be friendly fuckers!

I'm also strongly in favor of a reserve society idea of this form. The benefits are massive:
    • Helps Jester King by providing capital up front
    • Helps Texan JK lovers by opening it up to them first
    • Helps out-of-towners by allowing them to drive in and pick up on dates that work for them
It's also prestigious. The breweries that I can think of that have some sort of society are: The Bruery, Crooked Stave, Cigar City, Hill Farmstead, and Night Shift. That's a pretty sick list right there, but I don't see any reason why Jester King shouldn't join it.

A reserve society would absolutely be good for Jester King but would it be good for their loyal fans? Some of them yes, we all have seen the ......it's not my fault that I have more money than you.....posts. I'm sure there are lots of SW BAs with tons of extra cash to spend on beer and they would obviously benefit.
Take a few minutes to consider all of the struggling college students or budget minded blue collar workers who would be immediately shut out of the "rare" beers because of a reserve society. Do they deserve the beer any less?
This website is called Beer ADVOCATE for a reason and being trying to get more than the next guy goes totally against it.

Nathan, this is not a post to argue with you personally at all. It just follows my theme of the day......trying to get BA back to it's roots of taking care of each other as a community.
