    I'm a sucker for trying obscure, cheapo import brands of 3.5% beer that show up at the grocery store only to disappear shortly afterwards. Even though my experiences of these types of beer so far are nothing short of terrible, I still went ahead and took a chance with Martens Lager, which had the reassuring words "Imported Premium" printed on the cans. It has a slight taste of unripe apples and a weird unpleasant mustiness, it's only saving grace is that it's at least dry and has a slight bitterness to it. No hints of malt what so ever. I take it this is watered down from 5% which might be a good thing in this case, it probably helped tone down those green apple and cellar notes.

    A very nice change from big, in-your-face hop bombs. It achieves that hard to describe, but easy to taste balance in an IPA. Afternoon delight. ^^/
