Any Ballast Point sightings on the west side of town? SLP area to be specific.

Blue Max has Sculpin 6 packs for $13.49. They have the other 6ers and bombers as well.

I don't remember six packs of Avery IPA costing 13.99 or more. Just saying. Sculpin tastes similar to Odell IPA to me. Which is my favorite IPA. Also cheaper. I'm stoked that we have Ballast Point. I just don't think people should be comparing it to Avery. Avery has a lot of great brands: Hog Heaven, Beast, Maharaja, Ellie's Brown, Czar. I'll be excited to drink more Avery when they come back

Whoa Ace dont compare sculpin to Avery IPA compare Big Eye to Avery IPA then they are the same price point and Big Eye crushes Avery IPA @ $9.99 a six pack on the same field as far as Odell's they just plain crush many IPA'S IMO

Big Eye $8.99 and Sculpin $13.99 at F44. Personally, I don't get the arguments about Sculpin versus IPA X, Y or Z. Sculpin is it's own thing. I actually like Big Eye more than Sculpin, so I might question the price discrepancy between the two within Ballast Point. Avery IPA is a great beer and probably one of their less recognized beers for the quality. Odell is another great IPA. These are all great and along the lines of Big Eye, but all of these beers are also different in many ways. Sculpin, for as great as it is, does perplex me as to why that is $5 more than Big Eye, but it is popular. But the reality is, if you don't dig Sculpin at $13.99, then grab some Big Eye for $5 cheaper or Odells or Avery if that is what you are jazzed about.

Sculpin prices reinforce how awesome of a buy Saga 12pks are. I enjoy Sculpin a bit more, but when you can get double the amount of beer for less then the price of a six pk... Just seems like there are way to many really good IPA's at better price points. As always the market will decide

In general I'd agree with you, but in this case, bring on the Sculpin! While your taste buds may vary, I welcome any "West Coast" style IPAs with open arms, because there just aren't enough of them around here. Saga is a good beer at a great price point, but the playing field just isn't level between the two brews.

I would agree that Sculpin is at a different level but not anywhere near a level that justifies me spending more then double what Saga goes for.

I don't understand the pricing. Big Eye and Sculpin are both 7% IPAs but Sculpin costs nearly double. I like Big Eye better anyway so no problem here.

I recall when buying Big Eye the first time they were here that it was all Centennial hops-is that still the case?

Columbus and Centennial for Big Eye. Sculpin has those, as well, but with a lot of Amarillio and Simcoe through the process. Northern Brewer and a couple of others. Sculpin really is a lot of different hops (although a lower final IBU than Big Eye), which gives it it's unique flavor, but I still don't understand the big price difference between these two.

Where is the Julian code supposed to be on bottles of Sculpin? I can't seem to find any on the six pack I bought from Edina Liquor on Vernon today. I can tell it is pretty fresh though.

The mystery of the price discrepancy between Big Eye and Sculpin can be solved by taking literally ANY undergraduate economics course.

So if I recall my economics class right, that must mean.... there's a lower supply of Sculpin?

Or wait, is there another factor I'm not remembering?
