Looking to land a bottle of this with a team effort. As a starting point we are going to offer 4 of this year's NG Blackberry R&D Sour. Obviously, it's going to take more than this.

I'm unsure if the Very Sour Blackberry is a good starting point, but I have seen this beer go for CR 1:1, Blabaer, HF limited bottles, etc... I figured it was worth a shot. As for the other bottles we can throw in, we have BBPtF, CR, Fifteen, Black Note, more common loons, BT ('11 and '12), and others.
Just hoping for some friendly advice. Think it will get done? What will it take in your opinion? Thanks!

There's only one way to find out for sure! Click Here

It's always hard to "trade up" but it can be done. The biggest problem is finding someone that wants everything you are offering. When trying to offer 12 bottles of different types for one bottle, the person with the one bottle has to be interested in all 12 otherwise the unwanted ones are useless. My best advice is to do some research, be specific in your offer, and don't offer junk to start (it lowers your likelihood of getting it done after multiple offers).

Try overpaying. It gets things done faster.

Haha. Thanks! I suppose this is some of my "research." I figured some people might see this who has experience pulling it and could discuss their effort. I agree with the overpaying philosophy. At times it's hard to know what overpaying means.

Sorry. That was confusing wording. It traded 1:1 with CR. I think it was 2:1 for blabaer +. I don't know the exact logistics, but it was an absurd trade.

Justin Blabaer. Some terrible beer the under 25 flock finds amusing by mere name...

I was just curious as to whether lunarbrew had tried the Vanilla Bean variants. IMO it is not worth giving up a lot of beer for. So in case he hasnt I just wanted to say from personal experience I was disappointed with it. Not worth $100 worth of beer! Heck, not even its own price tag. Unless you like those beers that are more akin to booze infused syrup than a well crafted, balanced imperial stout.

Have you had Vanilla Brandy DL, because that is one of the top 5 beers I've ever had. I would happily pay $50 for that beer time and time again.

NG makes beers that trade for Blabaer? I guess I'll be looking for Chicagoland and WI jobs next week. A tattoo of a flag may be in order too. No wonder you cheese eating bastards are so happy. I thought it was just the cheese curds, and sometimes poutine. Jokes on me.

No I haven't. Sorry to bash on your Dark Lord, hence you came back with the Vanilla Brandy top personal 5 comment. I was just trying to help this guy out. Overrated and perhaps the sweetest, cloying of the DL variants. But I'm sure the Vanilla Brandy is just heavenly... Haha

Believe it our not, it's not at all easy to brew the sweet over the top brews. They can be incredibly well-crafted. I honestly like balance less when it comes to BA stouts. I'm all about over the top umami flavor and ultra-high viscosity. Both styles can be great, though.

No worries. I'm not the biggest fan of DL in general, with most of the variants being decent. Just didn't know if you were referring vanilla bean DL as vanilla brandy DL. Out of all the BA variants from '11 and '12, the regular DL is still the sweetest and most cloying IMO.

Well if you like sweet and syrupy by all means. I had the chance to have two full snifters of it myself and couldn't get past the halfway mark on the first. And the consensus among the other beer fans present was the same (at least the ones I spoke to). At Firestone Walker Invitational that is. I have to say the stout I enjoyed the most at that fest was barrel-aged Speedway. Brandy Hunahpu was a close second. And BASS is a lot easier to trade for than DL or Brandy Hunahpu. Just trying to help you man!

I wish there was a website where people could rank beers and get an average rather than using one person's opinion.

I'm not in the habit of divulging details but I will say that was my favorite trade in the sense that there were a good number of awesome, difficult to find beers that got knocked off both of our wants.. and a bunch of these were extras. If that is what people call absurd, I want to do more of these trades! Thanks for hooking it up!
