Only the most recent shipment is being recalled; previous shipments are/were fine. New Belgium has not yet issued a statement explaining why, but the sales manager I talked to told me that it was a quality control issue not related to infection. They sure did get those out of my stores quickly, though (delivered yesterday, recalled today).

If I EVER heard a bartender say "they may just need to clean the lines" I think I would leave and never return. Or just stick to liquor.

This exactly. Our reps got an email straight from them and had to call all the stores in the area to pull off the shelves. New Belgium doesnt fuck around. It happened so quick.

And to the person asking. It was only 6 packs of the most recent batch. Nothing else, so far from what I have heard. Not sure if it made it to other states, or just WI/IL area.

All of their beers except for the Brett beers (except LA collaboration, accidental) are pasteurized.

I have some in my basement with #130728021 below the best by date. I bought them a month or so ago, I'll have to drink one & let you know what I think. The first was a drainpour tbh.

It seems maybe they got the wrong dates on the bottles, that woould demand a relabel...but infected, i've heard nothing of that, drank it last night in CA great beer.

I'll check the bottles at work tomorrow and post a picture to all of you wondering exactly which bottles are the ones that got recalled, and the dates/codes exactly, unless someone already has a picture?

Now I'm going to have to crack one open!

(Bought in August, waiting 'til October--because, you know, seasonals and all that. Otherwise beer doesn't usually last that long in my fridge.)

Yes, that's what they told me when I took the tour a few weeks ago.

Isn't that what all pumpkin beers taste like?

    Greetings Advocates,
In the last 3 days we’ve had 6 calls from beer drinkers that have caused us to recall one batch of Pumpkick. All of the beer is isolated to one brew number and one packaging run, representing less than 3% of all of the Pumpkick that we’ve brewed and packaged to date. The batch and packaging number is 130813031. We have people from all over our brewery working actively to figure this out, and we’re reviewing all of the testing and oversight that is routine for us at New Belgium. At this point we are not finding any anomalies, but in an effort to be proactive, we immediately asked our distributor partners to pull this batch of beer from the market. At New Belgium, we take the quality of our beers very seriously and this is a top priority for us right now. Cheers, mates.

Especially if it was a bartender at a actual brewery. You'd hope that dirty beer lines wouldn't be an issue there.

This all sounds like much ado about nothing to me. I have welcomed and enjoyed the entry of Pumpkick to my autumnal arsenal of beer choices.

Why? It's been pulled, and only affected 3% of the entire run of this beer. You also have the code of the batch in question.
If you like pumpkin beers, just buy some...

Nevermind the recall, I'll probably avoid it because of the reviews.

Yeah, that's fine. It's always best to let others decide for you. But that's just not the way that I do it.

No, it's priorities, so many breweries, so little time. Except for La Folie they've underwhelmed me with the last 4 beers I've tried of theirs. So they're relegated way down the list.

Good lord that was bad. And it's not because it delivered on what it promised and I'm taking fault with that. It's that it delivered what it promised while still mucking up the landing. If that makes any sense. Otherwise, see the review! Zaz!
