Trying to judge (a little tongue in cheek) just how crazy I've gone over brewing. I had to wait a lot of years to have the 'luxury' money to start this hobby/passion, and now I'm off to the races with it.
I started my first brew ever 12/25/12. My 16th gets brewed tomorrow. Still in 5g batches with basic equipment and only recently got kegs. Fairly sure I'll hit 20 brews or more by year end.
    Not too crazy, am I?
Hmm, should I have polled this?

    I probably do 20-30 batches a year.

As long as you can afford it, and don't have any health problems as a result, brew as much as you want.

Well, I started about a year ago, and have done...35ish batches? Maybe 40 with collaborations.

Well I have a 2 year old, and my wife is a Resident (doctor), and pregnant, so I don't have as much time as I'd like to brew, but I will get about 24 this year.

About twice a month averaged over a year. I get in a brew a month in the summer (did 6 saisons since it got warm around here), and I brew quite often in the fall/winter (~ 3 times/month). Many of my brews are 3 gallon batches or split 5 gallon batches.

Not enough, maybe once a month. Rotating shiftwork and 7 day work weeks SUCKS, but soon very soooon I'm retiring and then it's going to be balls to the wall brewing, hey that's sounds like a good name for my brewery....."Balls to the Wall Brewery":grinning:

Whoa...got to qualify whether these brews are all-grain or extract and how many gallons per brew.

I tend to do 20-25 batches a year, with one or two of those being some sort of cider. 90% 5gal batches, probably about 95% all-grain.

About 12 a year. I try for once a month. Could brew more but its just me drinking. My friends do try to help through. :-)

    Cheers!

Dude, how do pull that one off? I have a 6 year old and one on the way and have a hard time carving out 6 hour blocks of time to brew. I'll end up with probably 12 batches this year and I thought that was good. You should write a self-help guide for married men with kids and how to make time to brew. You would sell a lot of books.

So far I've brewed 28 batches in my first year and three months (extract/5 gallon). I try to brew and bottle every three weeks. When the weather is good I do two batches.

Next weekend will by my 62nd and 63rd all grain batches brewed in the past 30 months.

The first 37 were BIAB and ranged from 5 - 10 gallons each.
The last 26 were / will be on my single tier 3 kettle system and ranged / range from 8 - 17 gallons each.

In addition to those, I also made my first batch of cider about a month ago.

Ha! It's not particularly easy. I almost exclusively brew on the weekends, and if I can't find the 7-9 hrs I need during the day, I just end up finishing a brew at 2 or 3 am.

    Beer > Sleep.

There are so many good new beers on store shelves that I buy, so I only brew 3-4 times per year (5-gallon batches). I gets hard to drink all of it, and it also gets hard to give a lot of it away if I don't see family and friends often enough.

Your problem isn't that you've access to too many good brews...it's that your budget for alcohol is too high

I think I average roughly 1-2 a month. I have some folks come over drinking, but I fluctuate a bit. Might brew once a month, and then the next month, 3-4 batches of 5g at a time.

Just had twin boys, so I'm sure my brewing this fall/winter with the holidays and such will suffer, but I've got a backlog of beer already waiting to be kegged that I'll be good for another 2-3 months regardless.

I'm sure I'll get 2-4 more in before the new year if I'm lucky.

Congrats. Your brewing isn't suffering -- it's making an investment that will pay future dividends. When your boys get old enough, they can help you brew, and with two of them, you shouldn't have to do any of the cleaning!

I know.. I think I'll be able to brew more. One mows the front yard and back yard, and the other does the edging, while I heat my strike water and mash in..
