Really don't get this thread? if a 10-13% beer tastes like its 5% then thats not a good thing right?

5% beers do not have the complexity of high abv craft beers how can it taste like 1/2 the alcoholic strength?

I get it for a couple of % here or there like Speedway could be 10% or Rochefort 10 could be 10.5% but never 5%

Disagree. Your country/location has made very complex beers of low ABV for a little while now. If by complex you mean over the top or so packed full of shit that has nothing to do with beer, then perhaps you are right. And "hiding" the alcohol is in most cases exactly the goal of the brewer. Tasting "hot" can be considered a flaw and the reason many that start off hot are intended to be aged until they mellow or the alcohol integrates into a smoother and more refined beer.

Absolutely right. She is so Delicious! She's also a potential blonde WMD if I even slightly start a second 750ml. Need to keep some of those little Duvel hand grenades on hand when I can't stop.

CCB's Forgotten Island packs the smoothest 15% I've had in a long time.

Wait, who did you bite now? Was it consensual? Are they going to need a series of rabies vaccinations?

Quite a few people have said La Fin du Monde but I feel Don de Dieu is even worse. Trader Joe's had a sample 4 pack a few years back that had those 2 with Trois Pistoles and La Fin du Monde. Don de Dieu was the lightest of the 4 but surprisingly had the same amount of alcohol. My wife and I were wondering how the heck they hid 9% in such an innocent tasting beer.

Struise HopVerdomme DIPA (AKA Hopdamnit) at 15%. Apparently, it was brewed by Beejay Oslon, who would launch Pipeworks later on, while he was an intern at Struise.

I've had it several times on tap and couldn't get the alcohol at all, at least not til in warmed up, I even asked the bartender if she gave me the right one. I will have to get a bottle of it sometime to compare, it seems like bottle beers can be boozier.

I would agree with that, when the beer is cold. I let the temp of mine drop, since I was drinking it near my grill. Holy hell, the ABV started coming through, loud and clear, as it warmed up.

    Worst disguised ABV? Double Dog.

We are talking about the actual alcohol taste/burn, not the complexity of flavors. Doesn't get much better than a fantastic high abv% beer with no hint of alcohol. It adds to the quality big time.
